2nd car £1000 - heaps on ebay
Hi,
Just looking at buying a second hand motor for commuting to work as job requirements have changed thus requiring more travel - but want to keep the scoob as its too good to waste sitting in long traffic queue, oh yeah and it eats gas It would also make me appreciate the power of the scoob more.
Went to look at a 1998 Astra diesel this morning which was advertised on ebay. From the piccies it looked really nice but in the flesh god was it very untidy. It had 128k on the clock but I used to own one of these so I know they can do plenty more. A true heap of junk. You could argue that for a grand 'what do you expect' but the Astra i used to own had 155k on the clock and it was mint.
Never buy a motor off ebay without inspection first, unless you have someway of knowing its a good one.
Can you really buy a good condition motor for £1000?
Comments appreciated.
Frank

1996 Renault Laguna. Not a mark on it and Renault's are known for not rotting. Only done 89K with 2 owners and all for £300.00
I have done over a thousand miles in it without incident and will be sad to see it go - Although the fact that I have sold it for £600.00 will make it a bit easier.
Just waiting for my new 9-3 Cabrio to turn up now
Economy motoring? You can't knock it if you are careful

I got a P-reg Fiat Brava for £500, with decent history and only 56,000 miles. Has a small dint of the rear quarter. Decent motoring, air-bag, alloys, met paint, elecy windows etc.
