Thumbs up New 05 WRX

Just got new WRX fitted with Pro Drive lowering spings, camber etc set up as per Pro Drive settings. Car sits on 18" O.Z. Pro Drives with Pirelli P-Zero's. Had '02 WRX for last three years with same wheels but no suspension mods. Have to say that first impressions are v good! Where the old car would understeer on tight wet roundabouts, new car seems more neutral with a touch of controllable drift. Steering feels more precise and is nicely weighted. All round the car feels improved and I like the extra visible touches, (red calipers, colour coded sills, dash mods etc.) Car not properly tested yet as still running in, but will update as I give it more!

Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear is £90+vat fitted at www.scoobyclinic.com (but it's really easy DIY) along with some solid links (£35 steel, £80 alloy). With the prodrive springs you would probably use the middle setting, saving the hardest for track or if you go on spirited runs (5 minute job to adjust). I use the hardest all the time as I have standard springs (so far ).

Not being funny, but have you driven an 05WRX with our springs fitted to be sure that it would be improved with more rear roll stiffness? Maybe it would turn into an oversteering monster that wanted to attack the scenery backwards every time you lifted the throttle in a corner................

Jonesy24 obviously likes it as much as I do

Mike, if the new suspension components used on the 05 have removed some or all of the awful understeer prevelant on all new-age Impreza's to present then I congratulate you on a job well done. About bl00dy time though ! FFS, it's not exactly complex but it has taken 5 years to realise that the handling was dreadful, and so easy to remedy. If Jonesy24 is happy with his turn-in then the decision is his as to whether he needs to modify anything. My 03 certainly has benefited from some uprated components, and shall be getting some more (including some of your lovely blue springs) unless I chop it in for a Spec C.
