Default Speaking of spanked

was left yesterday by a new 3 series M3. i wasnt expecting it so he did have an advantage to start with.

shame his bottle went when the twisties arrived, and i overtook him at around 125 MPH.

Anyone know what these kick out. this must not happen again. hopefully a remap will see to that.

I hope you've got a very thick flamesuit - you'll probably get toasted on here.

You'll need to seriously fettle with an 02 WRX to compete with an M3 - to the point of why bother?

However, with speeds like that, keep it on a trackday. otherwise you'll probably end up killing yourself, or someone else for that matter.

Cookstar, if i was you, next time one comes along side you, wave him past!

New M3's are very fast, the midrange torque is amazing, does help with them having a 3.2 straight six with 342bhp!

Plus rwd layout with much less transmission loss than the scooby.

Still, you could almost have two WRX's for one M3 so I guess it should be 'better'.

Cookstar, sorry to burst your bubble but a WRX even with a decat and a remap is no match for an E46 M3 I'm afraid.

Assuming both driven well...

But it costs allot more so you can be happy you saved a few euros!

is it just me or is this another 'got overtaken by a Ferrari/M3/911(delete/insert where applicable) on a straight bit of road, but then proceeded to drive better than colin mccrae on the twisties and gave him a lesson in my road-going rally car' thread...?!

To be honest I dont know why so many people on here seem to stick up for the BMW M3, cause I think they are a load of crap, for a starter there not that quick of the mark and you really need to be high in the rev range for it to go, So when ever anybody on here comes on here saying I raced a M3 everyone normally seems to stick up for it, Please tell me why.

M5 is a much better car or the M3 CSL, now if every M3 was like that then it would be diffreant, cause thats a totally diffreant kind of beast, but Im on about just a normal plain E46 BMW M3 coupe or convertible. I would rather have a decent second hand E36 BMW M3 EVO anyday for around £12k-£15k.

And a scooby is an extra load of crap, because it needs less weight and a turbo charger to outperform a 2 litre Mondeo.

And for the love of god, don't think the M3 makes no torque, it makes more torque at idle than many scoobies do on boost.

Because it's a scooby-eater, and it's wonderful to take the micky out of all these people who are distraught when they think that they've bought the fastest thing on the road, only they haven't.

True but a brand new scooby WRX can be had for for about £16k, brand new M3 can be had for around £40k and a brand new 2005 2.0 Mondeo judging by the prices on Auto Trader can be had for £17k, makes a scooby a bit of a performance bargain me thinks, But if I had the money I would have bought a Porsche 911 GT2, but i cant afford it and thats why im on ScoobyNet sticking up for the car that I own and love, And judging by your name you own or have owned a Cosworth, now I would give my right arm to own a Escort Cosworth but insurance is way to much so looks like im stuck with the scoob for now .

2 very differant cars though.

My delimited M3 sits happily at 170mph while I listen to a nice CD, at the same time on a wet coutry road I'd rather be in the scooby.

The first post was about a WRX Vs M3, even modded the M3 will win.

I have both I'm unbiased, both cars are supurb, and neither are 'crap'.

Like I said high up in the rev range is where the M3 is best and with most german cars once delimited you am talking some serious top end speed, But anything upto 110mph a sorted scooby could beat a E46 M3(limited to 155mph) with some quick driving not constent 150mph+ on a motorway cause it never seems to happen, as most races I have get upto about 120-130mph dual carrigeway blasts, then slow down for roundabouts etc.
I also admit that the scooby in standard form is slow, but once modded which most of us do, I think it goes pretty well.

Ive seen loads of threads on here with people saying that they have beaten M3's and everyone seems to slate them, Its probably 9/10 its a 215Bhp WRX owner who posts them up with there standard scoob beating a supercar. But I dont think a WRX with a full decat would beat a M3, but I would like to see owners with STi post there comments with run ins with M3's and see how a standard Impreza STi would get on with a M3.

Hope its not going to be one of those threads thats 10 pages long. Type in BMW M3 on search and see how many there is.

Had a little play with an M3 last sunday, came off a small roundabout 2nd gear 30mph with it glued to my **** headlight a blaze, by the time I had hit 120 in 4th I had pulled out a good 40m + and decided that was enough.

And before anyone moans it was 1am and there was no traffic about.

Wrx04 with ppp, friend nxt door with 2004 m3 soft top

Roundabout straight roundabout straight, i always pull quite a few metres till 90 mph

But then prodrive say 4.8 to 60 and I don’t think the m3 is near that even if it could put the power down as it would lose a lot through traction control I would imagine,

The m3 would waste it all day long at 90 to 150

I would assume any scoob with 265ps also would be quicker to 90 imho

Incidentally we have even tried roll ones in 2nd and 3rd, and 1st is not worth it because if you launch the scoob right it will waste the m3, and in 2nd

The m3 is a great car; you can’t compare the 2 as there purpose is different

If i was more mature at the ripe old age of 34 and i had the money i would have the m3

But i am still a little young dumb and full of ***, so the scoob is for me

don’t worry about the snipes you will get from this thread, every body who will say your irresponsible are full of crap, every bodies at some point has push it on public roads, just don’t do it often and makes sure no cars are around

And ignore any Scooby net members with 2000 plus posts that get cocky, it’s only that they have acquired a lot of knowledge but haven’t got the intelligence to be humble with it

Ok, I'll bite. Virgin - you're talking total bollix
From your post, it is blatantly obvious that you're "young, dum(b), and full of ***"
If you thank that hooning around at circa 120mph is a recreation that everybody does "at some point", then you're seriously mistaken.

Sure everybody has their moments, but not necessarily at such high speeds. I would suggest that most performance car drivers would have the basic common sense not to be overtaking other cars at 3-figure speeds.

edited to remove unnecessary comment, and to issue an apology if offence was caused

I've wasted far too much of my time on this post, so I won't be posting any more.

I'm not really bothered what's faster, I'd rather be going home in the 50k M3 full of toys, than the 20k WRX!
