Accurately timed figures from mag..

WRX , 0-100mph - 17.03 seconds

M3, 0-100mph - 12.12

for those not so good at maths, thats basically 5 SECONDS DIFFERENCE.

oh and BTW

WRX 0-60 - 5.70 seconds

M3 0-60 - 5.00 seconds

As my user name suggests i have an STi, one of the fastest ones at that. and i would still expect to get whopped by an M3 on anything other than some VERY twistie roads.

215bhp is nothing special for a Saloon, its not rocket ship.

Cant believe i rose to the bait!!! damn it!

Don't eat money, FFS!! it has very little nutritional value. I would buy food with it.

Most road cars don't need to as they have engines larger than a weed whacker, and produce power at lower rpm

True and the £10- £15k saved you can keep to rebuild you brains when they end up all over the road..! Unless you go NHS of course (and get riddled with MRSA instead)..!

Dan felt out his pram lol

With all due respect, I think we need to clarify a few things.

In response to your post -
1. no, I haven't done 101. I'll accellerate like hell, up to the speed limit, but due to my great desire to keep my license, I won't exceed it. And also, in the right conditions.
2. I no angel, although I think you'll have to concede that there is a significant difference between say, 80 and the circa 120 that has been quoted.
3. Nowhere in my initial post did I say you drove at 120. I merely intimated that your first post (which was edited) backed up and glorified the act of speeding highlighted in the intial post. Therefore, I fail to see the justification of the "muppet" reference. However, I'll bow down to any greater intellect that can prove otherwise.
5. I've been on this board long enough for most people to realise that my posts are very thought out and rational. Your post *did* cause some annoyance, due to the immature impression you gave regarding the whole speed issue, although I found your M3 references informative. But please bear in mind that you were the one who made the reference to "young, dum and full of ***" - not me.

I use my Scoob "energtically", like most drivers, but with reference to the initial post, there is a time and a place for that type of driving - the track, not the public highway.

Dan

I'll tell you what you have done, IPKIS:

You have gone off topic, old ****. When you have a glove compartment, cup holders, seats for at least four persons, an ashtray, carpets, a heater, a stereo system that can be heard by all passengers and the facility for those passengers to have a conversation without some kind of high-tec intercom arrangement- on your bike, and still get to 100 before a scoob or an M3, then you will be ON topic. Until then, please refer your comments to "Bikers".

Very well, mate. Come home early because the only band on in the town was playing blues. I thought, "Hang on Bubba......you have a vice at home! You could go home and tighten your knackers up in that for free!

Sorry to hark back to this but I had a 2.5 litre V6 Mondeo and I've got a fairly standard WRX now. If a 2 litre Mondeo caught my WRX off boost it could make some ground on it but when the turbo kicked in it wouldn't see which way it went!

No matter how you slice it, if you think M3's are a pile of crap then it's a fast, well built, well styled, well sorted pile of crap.

The run of the mill 5k Street-Scooby = noisy, gutless powerband, DUMP-VALVE whoring, allied with brash styling with a growing fanbase of chavs, well if you are into that urban street attention seeking lifestyle, then that is fine. But we can all be confident that the Scooby is everything that an M3 isn't.

M3 is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. That's how things work in this world, not in Gran Turismo.

Cossie, my friend, now you are being unjust to the vehicle upon which this fan site is based. If you wish to completely disrespect the car of choice of most people here, then you have become nothing but a troll. Even the standard Subaru Impreza turbo is anything but gutless. It is a family saloon that has twice the horsepower of most other vehicles in its niche. It is extremely good fun for the keen driver. We need to cut down the "****" to size, but I think the Impreza "Classic" is a striking, beautiful (in it's own way) car with a level of fun, performance and satisfaction of ownership equalled by very few (affordable) cars.

All other imprezas are fecking fugly, though, and I'll NEVER change my view on that.

if i could afford an M3/5/6, id buy an M3/5/6...if i could afford a carrera GT, id buy a carrera GT...if i could afford a ferrari F430 or aston DBR9, id buy them...but i cant, so i drive what i can afford, which is a scoob, and i love it to bits...why do people on here always seem to try and compare cars that are incomparable...???

Everyone resorts to repackaging the Impreza as hotstuff in relation to average economy cars *after* get its *** handed to it by performance cars the owners think they can take down (M3's, F355's, Supras etc). It's the default defence mechanism with many scooby fan boys.

Scooby big dog: "Me P1 can take on Lamborghinis ya know...look at the 0-60 max power quoted"

Mate: "Oh yeah?"

Two days later

Scooby big dog: "I was racing that Honda s2000 thingy the other night, I couldn't shake that car off me ****..I think me injectors are f00ked"

Mate: "So scoobs are overated you reckon?"

Scooby big dog: "Nah, of course not. They can seat 5 people and outperform 112 bhp family cars for about the same money. Name me one other car that can do that. Definately not Lamborghini let me tell you"

Very true. Other owners know what the limitations of their car are, and are not interested in the relative "quickness". If it was about road wars to me, then I wouldn't have bought one. I love to see my car, when I walk down the garden to get in it every morning, because I think it looks fantastic. I know that it's faster than 90% of the common cars I'm likely to meet on the roads, but it doesn't matter, because I'm not interested in racing them. It's the feeling that it gives me that counts.

very well said mate, i feel exactly the same,,,,HOWEVER...

going back to the original post, i was at my local track a few days ago and had took my MY05 sti and my mate had his brand new M3, he is the same kind of aggresive driver like me but on all ten laps my car was considerably faster than the M3 on the bends and on the long straight, the M3 is just a slower car than the standard sti, i put my car back in the garage a happy man while my mate was sulking as he put his in the garage..

Garage = memory card.. local track = GT4 in my lounge..

come on guys, appreciate the scooby for what it is not what it can and cant beat, surely thats not what this is all about,go outside and just look at yer scoob, aint it lovely, get in start her up, doesnt she sound great, that is the car we all love,it is a fast car and we know that, and deep down we also know that the M3 is faster and more powerful, but a subaru it aint..

if i had more money than brains then i would have alot of cars, M3 included but i would always have the scooby and id probably be drawn to it every time..
