trackday experience was a great ad for wrx wagon
Recently had my first trackday experience in my MY94 JDM WRX wagon (with mods giving an output of about 280-290 bhp).
I went with a few mates who are TVR nuts - one griffith, one tamora and one 4.5 cerbera.
My "grandpa car" estate with roof rails could pass most cars on the straight with only the TVR's inching past me, and the Noble's going past pretty quickly. It past Lotus's and Caterhams and M3's (old ones) and generally performed very well indeed.
Best thing was though, was that I had no mechanical problems what so ever while all the TVR's had at least one, if not more, quality control or mechanical issues, and I even had to tow one of them to the road to get collected by the RAC.
Then when our 'support car' had to go I managed to get 6 folding chairs and a table, numerous tools, a big tent thing, and lots of other stuff in my car to get it back to my mate place.
I bought my car for 4k, spent 2.5k on it and so it was one of the cheaper cars there, yet one of the quickest and most practical.
Brilliant!
Oh, and my standardish Sti backbox produced only 80.5 Decibels at 4500rpm - they laughed at that!

Nice one roojai, nice to see your map is working well.
Going to a midlands rolling road day soon to see what my modded wagon is upto. Still on the z4 map at the mo and TBO im happy with it. I have realized that really i should tweek the brakes and tyres before i go further with the power.
Very happy now, got the reliabilty back and have also sorted the top end knock.
Who said wagons were slow!

Hullavington airfield. Can't really 'race' on it as no passing on corners/braking zones, but the two long straights allowed good acceleration tests, and some of the corners were absolutely wicked! Managed to hit about 115 at end of straights before hitting the anchors.
Andy - I have 4-pots on front with EBC Rec-ceramic pads all-round and highly recommend that set-up. My brakes don't seem to be themselves since the track, a bit more play in the pedal, but I think it is 'cos my front discs which were very worn already, have had it. Tyres I'm running are Toyo T1-R's. Pretty good! also recommend Power station bump-steer mod and alignment.
My MPG was unbelievable low in track conditions - 5 laps (12.5 miles) would be about 1/5 of a tank! Fantastic

Really began pushing it towards the end with the brakes - not touching them until about halfway between 'brakepoint marker' and apex marker. Had a couple of slightly scary moments but so much road to play with so no problem.
With RR I would guess the main problem is with not enough airflow to IC. I would use some NF OB to make up for that.
And of course make sure all your fluid levels are good.
