Just had a play with a 911 Carrera 4.
What fun! A steep hill near me, him behind, 20 miles an hour through the tunnel, then he starts to go as I do. He pulls into outside lane, my turbo kicks in, 55mph I change to 3rd, he's still there, 90mph I change to 4th and he's back in my lane! At 110 mph I back off to 70 mph and he pulls out and goes past, having now backed off a little too. Pulled about 4 car lengths on him and mine was only £5,500. Classic STI's rock!
Best bit was, as he went past, he looked at me and nodded in apreciation! A decent Porche driver? Makes a change.

For those who are disblievers and to stop all the "300bhp Scooby can't beat a Porsche" type stuff, I took this from a Porsche site just now:
Let's cut to the chase: The 911 Carrera Coupe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, according to Porsche. That should be more than quick enough for anyone. For those who need more, the 415-horsepower 911 Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 189 mph.
MY97 STI 3 0-60 = 4.5 secs. And yes, from 100 mph up, he would probably smack my rear! and if it was a turbo, I wouldn't be writing about it here!

A 964 bodied Carrera 4 isnt a particulalrly quick or well-handling car, certainly not compared to newer models, or even a nice 3.2.....

Have to say that my WRX MY05 PPP does not feel anywhere near as quick as my 993 Targa - sure, when the turbo's on it would possibly pull away but the gear change and spooling versus the full through torque of the 993 would win. Damn I miss that feeling...

911's rock. All of them. Drove a 1976 2.6 Carerra once and loved it.
Off topic slightly but got a bit of a shock on the way home when a Integra Type R stayed glued to my boot upto errr 70 officer the other day...I didnt think they were that quick! (this was in a straight line).
