Default Got the backbox, what would change Decat Centre?

Hi all,

After some advice again. I've got a MY95 uk turbo saloon. The only engine mods on it is a scoobysport backbox.

I'm thinking of buying a scoobysport decat centre section.

Can anyone tell me what i would get from doing this?

Cheers Brent

Possible extra noise
Possible extra power
Certain to be a less restrictive exhaust by removing a cat

Got a 95 wrx with scoobysport centre, backbox and HKS decat downpipe.

Very loud and noticeable power increase. For me with two kids it would have been a good idea to stick to the old cat pipe. Centre and Backbox together definitely worth it,

Good luck with it,

Jerry

Bigger gains to be had from removing the primary cat in the downpipe You could leave the secondary centre cat in for emmissions.

Sod it! Take the lot out, remap the car and worry about swapping the centre section when it comes to the MOT!!

New scooby 04 - that was my orignal thoughts, but....... and here's where the problems begin.

I'm only 21 so insurance if i modded it would be silly money, i definately wanna keep the reliability and most importantly, because i've only made add on improvements at the moment (new interior + mid level spoiler + back box) because the car has never been tampered with before, i dont really wanna play with it for when i come to resell it.

So thats why was just thinking mid section?

What you think?

If you change the mid section, you're already into engine mods as far as most insurance companies are concerned, if you're going to do that -and accept any increase in premium- you might as well remove the cat that strangles most of the power (ti.e. the downpipe one). If you don't want to modify in a way that will increase your premium, then you're better off leaving the drivetrain etc as it is for now and maybe addressing the braking and suspension, which are more cost effective performance mods and shouldn't affect your insurance too much (check though)!

All the best,

I have a MY95 WRX which has a full-decat. Put the centre cat back on for MOT and hated it - much better sound without. As for bhp, when you have 280 its hard to notice having about 2-3bhp less!
