This time tomorrow
I will have swapped my 01WRX (cosmetic mods only) for an 05 (54 plate) STi with PPP. It has 5000 on the clock so it should be nicely run in.
I have been patiently waiting since last Saturday and seeing the current car off in some style Now we are less than 24 hours away the clock is ticking much too slowly.
My right foot keeps twitching. Any suggestions ?

Cheers guys - I rarely got 20mpg out of the WRX anyway and certainly never got anywhere near 25.
But hey ! who buys a Scooby and worries about mpg ?
Now trying desperately to negotiate with she who must be obeyed so that I can join in the ESC run to Southend tomorrow night.

I find you get get over 35mpg if you don't let the turbo spool up - this is easiest to do by never exceeding 2000rpm. I value the WRX's economical performance whilst still owning a car that 'could' go quite fast.

Can't imagine not taking an Impreza over 2000rpm - must be a bit of a dull drive... :O
Don't think I ever got over about 25mpg in my old WRX, don't think I'm getting 20 in the STi...

Well only an hour to go matey - enjoy the experience and make sure the salesman gives you the full monty - get him to run through all the controls just to savour the purchase! Take a camera and get some pics before it leaves the forecourt!
I dare you to drive slowly today with the knowledge that the power is there and you will use it later

Have a great day and enjoy the car mate. All the best with it!!
Lovely to hear people getting excited about new cars etc.... Motoring should never be dull, despite the governments best attempts to make it so!

Ive had my 05 Sti for a month now and find that the more i drive it, the less i need to boot its **** on the public roads. I had never taken a test drive in a subaru before i bought it, and will never forget driving it back from the showroom. Should really sell these with neck braces.
Hope you enjoy your new car, your local optmax seller with love it too.

As this is my second Scoob I wasn't going to run through the excitement factor but I've already noticed differences between the STi and WRX and the PPP is awesome. I'd still recommend the WRX as an entry car to anyone and if I didn't have the extra few K I've no doubt I'd have been driving one of these.
I'll leave the full thoughts on my new car to the old man. Picked him up yesterday afternoon and trundled ex-turbo down to the A127 before pulling into a layby and swapping sides with instructions for him to make full use of the right foot. For someone that still doesn't swear in front of his 38 year old son:
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKING HELL !!!!" (and this was still in second gear )

A few weeks back me and the misus took an 04 STI for a test (My current scoob is a MY02 WRX). Now she likes it when I push on a little but when I floored it in the STI she just giggled and asked me to do it again
I think she was getting a little turned on by the whole experience

I wonder whether Subaru would ever use it as an STI selling slogan?
"Is your sex life on the slide? Missus not running at the right Temperature? Then why not put a little extra zing back into your sex life - buy an STI and get her properly warmed up"
Oh and Marcymac - unless ur other half IS Salma Hayek them I'm afraid the answer no

Same thing with my missus, before i got the STi, she stated quite clearly that she wouldnt be getting in it. She then needed to be picked up from her sisters, and hence had no choice. Took it easy on her for all of 10 seconds then couldnt resist scaring the life out of her.
Well that fookin backfired!! she loved it.
Though nowdays i just tell her that everytime the car accelerates that quickly, Mr Optimax steals a fiver out of her bank.
