what oil and how often
i have an my02 wrx, i am in a right puzzle over what oil to use, the book says 5-30 semi synthetic, how ever after asking various specialist they all advise something like: motul 15 - 50 fully synth, silkolene 15- 50 fully synth, mobil motosport 15 - 50 fully synth, but on the other hand i have asked various main dealers and familly run subaru specialist and they have admitted (all of them i asked) that they have tried fully synthetic oils in there cars and the results were not good, noisey rattling knocking engines, just wondering if you guys n girls can let me know what oil you using and how often changed and any experiences good bad or indifferent, cheers

Search and ye shall find. Covered a million times, incluing a very recent thread.
Short answer. Use fully Synth. Motul or Silkolene Pro S are preferred brands; beware oils that claim to be fully synth, but are really highly refined mineral oils!
Change as per the service manual. More frequently if you use the car hard!

When checking advice...even from experts, make sure they know it is for a post 2000 model year impreza. As oil requirements for ealier imprezas are different (and is which is more commonly quoted - especially on here).
