I had this problem with my MY00 when I first got it. However, as the miles increased, the symptoms have gradually reduced. I think that the lurching is just because the gearbox/transmission is still tight and needs to loosen up, hence its reduction in severity over time.

Now, before I start I know this is stupid but I must be doing it wrong.

I've had my MY00 for nearly two months now and love it to bits.
It's the first turbo'd car I've had and it's taken a bit of getting used to.
My question is this....
How do you change gear at full boost, without putting your passengers
through the windscreen?

I've found that when I'm pushing the car quite hard and go for a quick gear
change that as soon as you touch the clutch the boost is disconnected and
the car lurches violently . Gear changed and the power re-engaged and
everything is back to normal.

So what am I doing wrong? How do I get the best accelaration, through the
gears without such violent lurches from the car?

Thanks for the reply, it makes me feel less of a fool.
I've only done 3k so far, so I know the engine is still going to be tight, never thought about the transmission being the same though.

How long does it take before things begin to loosen up and I start to get the performance I've been expecting?

MY00, 8mths old, 4,500 miles, the wife's car (see other thread on girlie cars!)

Same symptoms - just seems a bit tricky to jump into it from another car and drive v.fast and v.smooth straight away.

Best thing I've found is to, just before engaging the clutch, apply a bit more gas than you would in any other car. It just gets the revs up a bit more - a bit more boost (?) - and then you don't get the rapid deceleration on engaging that puts the passengers through the front window. Too much gas makes it feel like the clutch is slipping on engagement (it probably is!) so a bit of practice is needed
