Default Cheap Power Upgrades

Evening all
Got a new job and some more money to spend on the car now.
I have a my93 wrx, and am currently at 240 bhp and want to get to 300bhp.

Dont want to go silly with money but was thinking along the lines of decat, induction kit.

any other ideas. basically want a bit more torque and a bit more power.

I've got a 94 WRX mate. Can't really give you much advise about the power upgrades bit mine has a full decat and panel filter and it picks up so well due to the larger bore.I ain't driven a standard car but you get what i mean..feels like it should have been like that from the factory.I would stear clear of the ind kit for now.

I'm making sure mine is in top condition before i start upping the power.Cambelt done..plugs changed..decent oil.. etc then maybe get a slight boost increase and remap. If you just wind up the boost without altering the fueling and air(which is the easy way) then your asking for trouble.

thanks, may just stick to the de cat and panel filter then. higher boost is certainly something to go for, like you say just get everything working spot on first.

will have a think and see where i go from here.

cheers

1st stage
Full decat 3" straight through. (£350 2nd hand)
Induction kit but increase cold air flow to the unit via resonator removal and poss mini bonnet scoop. Also try and shield it from as much of the engine bay heat as possible. (KNi £70 )
Boost controller, Dawes or something electronic but keep it below cut off for safety as its there for a reason !!!!!! (£30 - £350 new, though look for 2nd hand deals)
Knock link and sensor to identify any detonation (£120)
Good fuel such as Optimax (fooking expensive!)

Good for 265 BHP on my UK MY98 .

2nd stage
Fuel pump and regulator (£200)
min 440cc injectors. (£80 2nd hand)
Might also want to change your intercooler for new age model if u r looking to go to a safe 300BHP. (£300)
I upgraded my turbo as it was a TD04 now have an VF24 (£150)
Engine remap (£500 in group buy)

Best money I spent after breathing mods was an engine remap !!!! Worth every penny.

Good for 311BHP and 290LBF now

Well Alan............

if you have about £140, Harvey does a great one, which also has a fuel cut defender.

its adjustable, has a high and a low seting and a short burst over boost facility as well!
