my98 uk turbo best panel filter
which is the bestpanel filter to buy for a my 98 uk turbo for power gains as ive got full blitz exhaust and waitin for my decat pipe ,
i just wondering best recomendations for panel filter , or is it better to go induction as i have been told induction kits can lose power is this true , as warm air from the engine can get in the induction kit ,
is the k&n as good as the blitz as u hear people say they do as good a job , and are far less cheaper ,

Id definatly go for the panel over the induction kit as theyre prone to lose power, due to sucking in warm air from the turbo.
Green seem to come highly recommended (i have one). Dont expect any real substantial gains, but you will notice better throttle response and more spool from the turbo and the oe dv will be more audible.
All my experience and opinion by the way.

I have an ITG panel filter in one Imreza and a Green panel in the other and have found that the Green is slightly better as the ITG is an oiled filter which as it is vertically mounted tends to pool the oil to the bottom of the Air box and requires occasionally up ending and also gets dirtier as dust seems to stick to the filter and needs cleaning and re-oiling.

Thats the one. To be honest theyre all pretty much the same. I went with Green after reading in Japanese Peformance the article with TSL's 22B. They said the induction kit they fitted was losing power and that it was substituted for a Green panel filter to much improvement. I thought if its good enough for a 22B its good enough for a uk turbo!

There was a recent article in scoobymag (issue 1). They found, on the same car (2001 WRX) on the same day on the same rolling road it basically made bugger all difference :
Standard Filter 235BHP 223f.lb
Sti Filter 229.3BHP 221.4 ft.lb
Green Filter 234.9BHP 225 ft.lb
Car was 2001 WRX bugeye with WR Sport back box and VTA dump valve as the only mods.
So probably not worth the bother/money really ? ?
