Default Newbie RB5, have I had a good deal for the ££££

Hi All

I have just put a deposit on a 1999 T plate RB5 with 45k on the clock and am test driving the car on Wednesday, production No 317, the car has a full Subaru service history and has had the cambelt changed at 22949 miles, Im paying £10995 for the car from Lifestyle cars of Bournemouth, do you think for the money im getting a good deal, also has anyone been in an RB5 and if so what do they go like.
Also do they have to have a tracker fitted for insurance purposes.

Thx Russ

1) You should not put down a deposit on a car before you test drive it. See if you like it first.

2) You should never put a deposit on a car before finding out about insurance. Theses cars cost a lot to insure even for sometone over 30 with full NCB. get quotes NOW!!! Do you know how much they cost to service and what they cost to run in terms of petrol?

3) Is it the RB5 with the WR sport pack fitted i.e. increased power and torque or just the one with the cosmetic mods? Former worth more than latter.

4) Even if its the one without the WR sport pack, it's equivalent to any other MY99 scooby in performance, which is to say it's very quick.

5) Tracker depends on isurance company. You'll be wise to invest in additional security e.g. a cat 3 steering lock and a blackjax system.

6) Value depends on answer to 3. Personally I think a fiver short of 11k is too much for one without the WR sport pack, and possibly a bit too much for one with it too. They're hard to value though, as they are special editions and it's very much a case of what price people are prepared to pay for exclusivity!

Regards,

The deposit is only to hold the car until I test drive it and is fully refundable if Im not happy, Insurance is going to cost me £450.00 but I wanted to know if anyone has experienced any problems with not having a tracker fitted.
As for running not a problem, I had a Fiat coupe 20vt that was costly.... as for petrol my fuel is paid by the company I work for, only do 12 miles a day but all paid for. I am part exing my current car £5000k and the rest of the money is money thats been given to me by the company on the sale of shares which I paid 1p per share for so im treating myself.

I 'think' Direct Line demand a Trakker!!!

£11k seems an awful lot ...... but, a RB5 is the one to have!

Good luck!

Direct Line do demand a tracker (otherwise it won't be covered for theft), £450 is very cheap....

A bit too cheap if you ask me. They do know it's the turbo right? Sounds dumb, but insurance companies have been know to give quotes for a non-turbo sport edition!

Look at the small print on the quote, what's the excess, are there any dodgy goings on should you be unfortunate enough to have to make a claim?
