Default ECU type help please

Can someone identify this for me please.
6K A18-000-D21
This is ecu in my brothers sti.We fitted a boost gauge to it today and it is peaking at 16 psi and holding about 15psi.
My brother is the 1st owner in the uk and as far as we know its a completely standard 97sti.
I have a MY96WRX which is dynod at 297bhp,my brothers sti is certainly as quick if not quicker than my wrx.
So i have two questions.
1, is the above ecu the standard one for this year of sti
2, is the boost correct for this year of sti.

Thanks all

6K is out of a late STI, 7K was in a STi RA.

Both these are out of 96 pre facelift cars (not 97)

Boost does sound a little high, as the 7K in the RA only boosts to (pause while I open up my 3D mapping spreadsheet............) 13.64psi peak.

If I were you I would crack open the ECU and see if there is a chip mounted to the socket in the bottm right hand corner.

If there is and the car has just come into the UK, then pull it out as it will be mapped aggresivley for 100 RON fuel.

If you find a chip, then mail me and I may be able to sort you out with another mapped to 16.11psi and Esso Super Unleaded (but only as I know you ).

I've got a couple of spare chips I was using to map Rob's car, but now he's flogged his car I'm probably gonna flog em now anyway.....(to fund my TEK3 remap for my VF28)

Hi Scott,
I was kinda hoping you may give me some answers on this. Thanks mate.
I have mailed you some pics of the ecu inside.
It must be a 96 but its on a p reg!
I have a dawes on mine and know its boosting to just short of fuel cut.
So i tried my boost gauge in my brothers incase he's gauge was reading high.
Would it be wise for him to fit a chip mapped for uk fuel,if so then if you can sort it ( only as you know me ) would be great.
Let me know costs etc.
Thanks

Martyn
