Question New car Crap Wipers......

The wipers blur the screen like you wouldn't believe, any ideas ?
Ive cleaned the windscreen with widow cleaner and treated it with Rainex but no better at all. I have wiped the wipers with a damp cloth as I do not know if I can use any chemicals on the rubber.

My new MY05 does this too !!

Leaves a massive smear right on the drivers side !!

Have also tried cleaning every thing and its still there !!

Looks like I may have to replace the wipers too

Mark.

Had my PIAA's on for about a year and still going strong.

Wilkinson's are doing twin packs of Rain-X & cleaner for £4.99 IIRC.

Rain Wizard and nowhere seems to sell it any more. RainX doesn't work for me when I've tried it so somewhat peeved this isn't available anymore.

I won't tell you what other uses it has.

By total coincidence the Mrs complained the minute I got home from work yesterday 'I nearly had to lean into the passenger side of the car to see where I was bl**dy going today', blaming my dodgy car waxing efforts. I've suspected it was the blades - so now we know. MY05 WRX and ours has done this for five months - time for some Bosch replacements then?

Had the same problem when I got my WRX. Window cleaner is useless, but clean the screen AND the blades with isopropyl alcohol, and all will be fine (meths might also do - but it stinks). This worked for me - i.e. no need to bin the blades.

cleaned the wipers last night with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) as suggested by "dr ming", fingers crossed it does the trick or it's down to Halfords.

I called the dealership yesterday and they had never heard of the problem before and said it may be the shipping grease and to try cleaning it with meths, or pop up to them if it does not help and they would fit new wipers under warranty.

I purchased a wrx in november and within 2k the wipers smeared.

Went back to dealer and they changed them on warrenty.
Looks to me if this is a common problem.

I got a new screen in my 99 Leggy GT-B all the way from Japan at a cost of £1200 , (previous owners insurance paid for it though), then started to notice scoring where wipers were stopping and returning at centre of screen, found that the aftermarket Bosch blades were the problem, went back to original Scooby ones, problem solved, Also fitted OE to rear screen and suddenly I had full sweep again and not missing top of rear window.

This crops up quite frequently wiper problems on scoobs.

I have always stuck to Halfords for wipers and never had problems in last 5 years, though lots on here use other suppliers. For washing windscreen I use tesco window cleaner and use newspaper to wipe cleaner on and wipe cleaner off, never had any problems with smearing.

Tried all sorts of combinations in past but stick with this now, oh and pledge natural furniture polish for interior plastic works a treat too!

I'm thinking of buying the PIAA silicone wipers from Scoobysport. The black satin finish would, I guess, look the same as the ones I have on now (STI7) but I'm intrigued by the carbon fibre look wipers. Anyone got any good pics of these wipers - either black satin or carbone fibre finish? The pics on Scoobyworld don't give you much to look at.
