I know all jap vehicles are restricted bikes cars and even the huge 4x4
I thought the ECU set up was messed with by the manurfactor so it doesnt excide that speed or does this little gizmo put pay too all that
I really thought there was so much more to it than that

If its a classic, then the limiter is mechanical based on the speedo needle, when it reaches 112 (180kmh) it cuts the engine. The de-limiter you can buy off ebay or several other places, goes between the speedo cable and the back of the speedo. It transfers the input from the cable to the speedo but slows it down so that now when the speedo hits the 180kmh (112mph) mark the car is actually doing 180mph. Which of course it wont do anyway so it has effectively bypassed the limiter rather than removing it. Your speedo will now read in miles instead of kilometres.

had the same prob mate, i have spent alot of time and found on my car (94 jap wrx) its not as simple as fitting a de-limiter. i have gone through 2x sets of clocks, mph and kmh clock faces and a de-limiter fitted between the clocks and speedo cable and it all comes down to the ecu. if i was you (cause it was a nightmare of a job!!) id take it to a specialist, someone like powerstation in gloucestershire.
if tried it several times so drop me an email if ive missed anything.

As my speedo is 10-15mph out accross the range according to my gps snooper.
Which is a bit nerving when having to guestimate my speed through cameras!?!

i took my sti5 to powerstation, it had already been derestricted but it had a fault. so for £150 all in, they removed the faulty one from behind the speedo & fitted something else near the gearbox.

there is one that you fit into the top of the gear box ,,,you can buy them on ebay for around £60 ,,,,,,,you take the speedo cable out of the top of the gear box,put the delimiter in then put your speedo cable into that ,,5min job ,,,also changes it in to mph

I guess you'll be risking the engine blowing up anyway if you're going to be taking it on the track?
I say that because here in the UK the speed limit is 70mph = so I cant think of another time you'd need to go over 112mph

You'll need to take this off to reveal the original clock face and put in line one of the speedo converters mentioned above. This way, the ECU will still limit the car to 180 - but with the converer in line, this will now be 180mph, not 180kph as you currently have.
My car (MY93 WRX) has regularly gone above 112mph on the continent for extended periods and still runs fine.....

Its funny cos when you look at what it is the stops your car going fast its a silly peace of wire or like the old rota arms they were spring loaded and when the revs hit a certain point the centrafugal force pulled the spring bits into play and it was like you was being kicked in the face with the jault you only did it a once maybe twice then you thought change gear my poor old RS
