Default I pick up my MY05 STI in 5 days

and I can't wait ! Friday will not come quick enough after 11 months of waiting to order it and now it is so near. PPP already ordered and just need to get through the first 1000 miles and then get PPP fitted and gradualy build the revs up over the following 1000 miles.

Should 2000 miles be enough time before I give it some real stick ?

i would'nt take it easy atall.theres been a few threads regarding running new cars in,

it is assumed that if you thrash the car from the start the engine will perform better and last longer.

rizzy:- I dont like the sound of thashing it from the start ! - I'm old scool when it ncomes to running in, nice and gentle then build it up. Always seen a very good return for this on all the new cars I have had. All of which have always been a fast example when fully run in.

not long now...........soon be Friday !

Default Running in

I picked my car up March 1st. I've only done 250 miles since I picked it up. I work 10 hours a day so rarely get chance to drive it very far. This 1000 miles is killing me. To answer the question on running in, the engine probably will take the thrashing from new but your running the whole car in not just the engine. You wouldnt fit new brakes to your car and then go off down the road at 100mph would you? Be patient, bed the brakes / engine and diffs in for the 1000 miles and then enjoy yourself.........
