Can a classic MY99 scoob go through a car wash
I just bought myself my first scoobie today. As the title suggests its a MY99 classic with the high(ish) rear spoiler.
Can I take this safely through a car wash. I know it is a lovely car, but it still does not make me want to wash it.....
Anyone here put theirs through a car wash without problems?

Willipdarling - when you say "had their hatches scratched", are you referring to hatch back cars, or specifically the boot of an impreza? I know there are some really bad car washes around, but I know a couple of good ones that I have used in the past with my previous cars.
I was just wondering if anyone had had their spoiler ripped off in one of these!!

i have regular scoob drivers go through mine
sum with fibreglass, aftermarket spoilers and splitters and sum with standerd cars
my mate "Bon Bon John" (hes a big lad) puts his my99 through all the time (least once a week

dont be lazy, give it a hand wash. should look at my scoob that has always had hand washes and look at my escort which has car washes regulary.
Which one do you think looks the cleanest and which has the scratches on the paint when you look close?

I think I need to improve my hand washing skills, and the only damage done to my last car was by my own hands during cleaning....doh!!

I used to put my MY95 classic through Tesco car wash and I had a large spoiler on
Never had any problems
Saying that I wouldn't put my new STI through there

I did it with my MY99 it was fine no problems at all - Should have an account with IMO/ARC the amount of times mine went through one...

Remember the brushes are soft and squidgy and nice... Before you go through one for the first time, ask the nice man whether they use nice brushes or brillo pads...
If he doesnt use brillo pads then go for it... I did... But like someone else mentioned the wheels are never too well cleaned...
These days I purchase 10 minutes of jet wash time at my local morrisons for two and a half english pound sterlings... Half the price of the soft and squidgy and nice brushes and much more effective

Car wash mate....?? You might as well use a scouring pad on your bodywork..... 
If you're lazy, go to the local hand car wash instead..... But make sure they don't drop the sponge then use it to clean your car.....

Heh heh. Opened a can of worms with this one. I do love cars, but I do not love cleaning them. Takes ages, and you normally end up with freezing cold hands.
My dad is like a lot of you here, he washes his car every weekend. Then polishes it too. It does look nice, but he spends so long doing it when he could gone for a drive then put it through a car wash!
I agree that a hand wash place is best. Will have to find one, as I do not think that there is one locally. Used to love the one in Nottingham. They setup in a supermarket car park. Give em the keys, go do your shopping and you had a beautifully clean car when you came out with your shopping. None like that around here though

No need to suffer cold hands mate. Get your self some thin cotton gloves and either put a pair of washing up gloves on. Colour of your choice
or use a couple of layers of the family planning gloves. You know like what the Dr's wear Don't look cool i know but hey you have warm hands.
