Bye bye Scoob, it's been fun!
Well yesterday I traded my in '02 WRX and picked up my new car. Now what car could you possibly replace a Scooby with? A brand new '05 Fabia vRS. If someone had said to me a year ago I would be trading in my pride and joy for a Skoda I would a wet myself laughing but, after a test drive a few weeks ago I was hooked.
After weighing everything I just can't justify the Scoobs running costs at present so decided to let her go. Luckily for me the bug eye appears to have just depreciated a couple of grand in the last three or four months making it a pain in the ar*s to shift privately. I just had to bite the bullet and lose a bit on a trade in.
If anyone else is looking to make a switch to something a little more practical then I can't recommend the Skoda enough. Although I'm running mine in the moment I had a good blast in the demo car. The in gear pull is amazing. Any gear any revs and you're off. At the risk of being torn to shreds you could easily take an Impreza driver by surprise and disappear off into the sunset (well at least until they'd changed down a gear or two and caught up!) The build quality is of a very high standard and the car feels very well planted.
Now where's my string back driving gloves?

Skoda garages must be awash with WRX trade-in's, everytime I look at this forum someone else has changed their scoob to a Fabia/Octavia vRS!
But then if theyre half as good as everyone, and all the magazines are claiming then its probably a sensible swap - especially financially.
Are you going to get yours remapped mac?
Anyone know if there are any plans to put the 2.0 140bhp TDi in the Fabia?

Nah mate - those official figures are BS.
We've got a Fab as well as the Scoob - no way is it that slow...and yes I know over 9 secs is the quoted figure...

I think the 9.6 seconds 0-60 is very conservative but it's the in gear acceleration I have fallen in love with.

I went from a scooby to a fabia vrs just before christmas, its a cracking little car. Got it remapped by amd a few weeks ago and its up to 170bhp and 295 lb of torque. Miss the scooby though. Dont miss the 20 miles to the gallon though.
I went from a Scooby to a Fabia VRS. Got mine remaped at AMD, their first one and the graphs were used on the web site.
My only issue were, it smoked like the bismark, the seats are the worst colour ever and the handling was ok issssshhhhh. Good value for money though. Had a 182 not long after that and must say the Clio was better. OK 10mpg less, but the handling was in another league and the leather/alcantara was much better. Build quality not as good though.
