I think there is a lever/switch type thing on the latch mechanism on the inside of the boot lid. This can be flicked so as the boot can't be opened using the lever by the drivers seat. Have you tried fiddleing with that?

Mine got jammed a couple of time (MY03 Blob) and wouldn't open from inside or out. Tried the next day and it was fine. That was about 9 months ago, hadn't happened before and hasn't happened since.
