American member visiting london
Hey guys, dont know if this is the right area but....
I'm a subaru owner and member of this forum from NYC. I'll be in london on vacation for a few days from 5-march to 10-march. I dont know if there are any events in the area or any members who would like to go out for a pint and maybe a tour but if so please feel free to post in this thread or contact me. I'm up for whenever as it is my first time across the ocean.
if you guys dont want to meet up, feel free to recomend any good places to hang out, eat and drink while in london.
Thanks ahead of time and mods if this is in the wrong section please move it.

I believe I'm staying in a hotel in central london, but I plan on being out and about, honestly the most important thing for me is to see the city as the locals do. I'm from NYC so I have no problems with seeing some of the more "real" areas of the city

make sure you take the open top bus tour of the city, preferbaly the red route. It is fantastic.
if you are lokoing to eat I would suggest booking ahead.
few places to try but they are not cheap but are excellent.
Locanda Locatellis - italian
hakasan - oriental fusion
nobu - japanese
the ivy - english and the best - if you can get a cancellation table. try it.
the wolsley - next to the ritz - excellent food again english/frenchy.
these are great london restaurants an should be tried, all in the west end pretty much, which is where people tend to go out in the city.
Most london scoobynetters will live in the suburbs which are at the far reaches of the tube lines, because no one wants to live in the city if they like to drive.
I would meet you but I will be in Wales throughout your stay which isn't quite commuting distance!
Enjoy it. It is one of the greatest cities in the world.

Parts of London and parts of MOST UK cities, large towns and even some smaller ones and large villages, are defo NOT safe, some being real no-go areas.
Even out here in the sticks, a local small town has the unenviable reputation of being out of control. The coppers go onto certain estates in 4's.........two to go to whatever call, and two to mind the cop car.........and that's the truth!

Yeah, but NY is reckoned to be quite "safe" now, and civilised.

Oh, and since you're coming over, could you stop by Craft before you leave and bring me some takeout?
