Imprezaless after 7 years
Well the day has finally come when I've decided to try this grown up lark.
After 7 years, during which I've enjoyed a '98, a P1, an STi 8 and a WR1, I collected my Forester 2.0 XT today.
To be honest, I'm not a happy bunny, but common sense had to prevail at some point. Unfortunately my Wife was seriously ill last year which reduced the work I could take on, so when you consider that the diferences in finance, insurance, servicing (free with the XT), tyres and fuel will leave me at least £350 a month better off, it's a bit of a no brainer.
I'll continue to lurk around SN but, in the mean time, if some fat old git in a silver forester waves at you, you'll know who it is.
I'll be back!

Spot on John. However, what makes it even worse is that I've quite enjoyed the 150 miles I put on it today
It's reasonably comfy, quiet enough that the head unit I carried over from the WR1 sounds so much better, even at running in speeds it's not slow and handles remarkably well.
That said, as work improves, I have an awful feeling that a set of 17's might be required and that the subject of a PPP might rear it's ugly head and until the all new model STi with 2.5 appears I can always content myself with the money I'm saving.

Don't worry Josh. M. Wood esquire is working flat out to help you eliminate understeer, and maybe fatten out the area under the power curve
Foresters are damningly refined..christ I even bought an Auto one
Sorry about the personal circumstances leading to premature middle age but it'll be nice to save a few bob and look at what you want to be doing again in a couple years.
Rgds
Chuck (Still in the 22B, I'll be just like one of these old geezers in his owned for life Morris Minor in 30 years LOL)

Been there Josh, we've gone from an Impreza wagon (via a pick up a d a Boxster) to a Legacy. saying that, it is a 3.0 spec B!!
I hope you enjoy the Forester - I agree with you about the STi version - now that would be good to cart the dogs around in!

Is SUK bringing the STI into the country in the near future...that could make me grow up faster than I imagined!!
I dont think the uk 2.5 is good value compared with the Jap one.
Thats a proper STI with a bigger body.
Just be nice to have the cast iron warranty with it.
I reckon that will be my next car at the moment!!!

I did also test drive an S4 Avant - the 340 bhp V8 one - and was rather taken with it
Unfortunately Lesley said "£38,000 is ridiculous for a car, you're not having one of those" so that was the end of that!
The only reason I got to change it in the first place is because she dislikes the R32 and the seats give her backache - "i'll get rid of it then" says I - she liked the Forester, so that was that
Have conveniently forgotten to mention the PPP and 17's, must remember to get them invoiced separately

I'm enjoying the Forester S Turbo thing at the moment!
I have to say there are far worse cars you could be driving when doing the sensible thing!
Nearly as easy to tune as an Impreza.... oh dear!!!

That nice Mr Wood at Prodrive has finished it, just waiting for SUK to give it a part number and order the kits - probably two or three weeks before they are available to dealers. The hardware (exhaust bits, i/c pipe) are the same as the 2.0 XT, just the software is different
