!00 k miles!
Just gone over the 100k mark in my MY99, this makes 120k miles in the last 5 years of happy Scooby driving.
Who cares????????
Well I do and I think I'll probably do another 100k .........

Yes it's modified...and it was the best decision I ever made. I bought her at 25k, did another 40k and loved it but.... You know all those things you wish were different on a UK turbo - the rubbish brakes and lights, the terminal understeer, never hearing that gorgeous burble and the crap main dealers...
So at 65k it was sell - or keep for ever and mod it
I decided to mod it, the usual package from Scoobysport and a remap by Pat. They changed the clutch to a Sports Helix and skimmed the flywheel. Joy - smooth and no judder. Pagid disks, pads and braided lines made the brakes half decent and some Cibies on the front meant I could see at night. It was just like a new car, I had my friend back but she had attitude . BTW they also changed the MAF then as it was failing, something the main dealers hadn't picked up.
A Whiteline rear ARB and droplinks now means the handling is neutral and the grip is even better.
So 35k later she hasn't missed a beat, just tyres, and just recently discs. Now lovingly cared for by Knowlsey - forget main dealers, go to someone who knows Scoobies.
Heres to another 100k...
DJB - I must have paid Shell THOUSANDS..........

Interesting ....................................
So? original Turbo?
I ask because mine is now very nearly 5 years old, I've owned it since new - never changed the brake pads or discs yet even though she is now on 57,000miles.
I am very sceptical about scare tales and rumours about faults and the like - the MAF appears suspect if a different Induction Kit is placed on the car and it doesnt like it ... standard cars are long lived and very reliable. I 'wonder' how they knew the MAF was 'Failing' (I don't think, unless you measure the electronic variables, that you would know its failing!) - so, I guess it was replaced as a caution only.

Pat picked up that the MAF was failing when he was doing the mapping. The ECU had been compensating so I hadnt noticed, apart from some hesitation in the mid range, which MY99 owners seem to have to get used to. The main dealers had said "they all do that sir....."
Much better now, but it still hesitates a bit between 3-4k, but theres such a wall of torque that I don't care
