As this does not come under Northern, Southern or Midlands. I thought I would post this here.
Is there anybody out there from E.Yorkshire, Humberside, N.Lincs or surrounding area, who would like to start a new "MEET".
If so please reply here...
Cheers,
Muddy.
P.S- The Midlands and Northern meets are just too far away!!

Cheers for the responses.
It looks like it's starting to come together!!!.
Geoff P- Track days great idea, especially around the yorkshire areas(in general) there are alot of airfields out there that offer track days, and the prices are very reasonable, compared to Donnigton and the likes.
But i think it is a great starting block if we can just all meet up together and "talk", discuss possible track days, events.
I am hoping that this works out and that we get enough people to start a "Yorkshire Branch" of either the SIDC or Scoobynet Or even both.
As there seems to be no organised Events etc for those of us in the Yorkshire areas i feel that this could well "TAKE OFF".
We should aim to achieve something like this because it is something that is not being taken advantage of by the SIDC. With no disrespect to SIDC (I'am A member) i feel that we could do alot more than just the occasional Driving course and Track day.
I have contacts with the Lancer Turbo Register ( my dad is joint events coordinator )and with the yorkshire branch of The Peugot Sport Club ( I am an Ex-member), and i'm hoping if I ask nicely we may be able to participate in some of their events as a Yorkshire Branch ???. Don't now if it'll come off yet though!!!!
These are just my personal opinions and I hope you can post some more ideas.
Gary P- are the owners of the 5 cars on the scoobynet!!. I hope they will be interested!
Thanks

Muddy,
I think this is an excellent idea, it is something I have wanted to do for a while now.
I have several contacts in the South Yorkshire RS Owners club, so we should be able to participate in some of their events.
The local RS Owners club monthly meeting currently takes place at the recreational club/pub at the place where I work in Doncaster. I have recently been asked to handle the meetings of the RSOC club as the recreational club is only available to employees, and their current contact is leaving... Anyway my point is... I could see about asking them if we can join their meetings if you think thats a good idea... Ee could discuss SIDC/Subaru stuff and also arrange joint track/rolling road events with the RSOC, and it is always good to see other makes of car too
SimonM
P.S. The Rec Club also sells beer cheap as it is subsidised by the company
P.P.S. Do you all know about the bi-weekly drag strip events at an airfield in Sandtoft nr Doncaster??

Totally agree, were on the same wavelength.
This has been a long time coming, and I think it just needed airing.
I have just spoken to my dad and he said exactly the same thing about the RSOC, they have a lot going on and are all friendly chaps. It is interesting being invited to other peoples meets, events seeing different cars etc.
But we could also concentrate on Subaru track Days and invite other Clubs( their Yorkshire Branches).
Like GeoffP explained if there are enough of us, SIDC can be approached for Instructors, thats obviously with enough of a SIDC contingent.
I heard about the drag strip in donni throught the IWOC mailing list, have you been, any good??.
Did you now about the York raceway do this weekend, anybody interested, I could find out more info if any interest. Or does anybody know anything about it??
There is also Binfield Airfield to name just one who now specialise in track days.
If we can attract a few more people the possibilities are endless.

Muddy,
I will try and sort something out with the RSOC tonight!!!
It was me that sent the message about the dragstrip to IWOC, but I only got one response and that was from somebody in the Sunny GTiR owners club
I have been to every one of the events so far an IMO they are excellent. They have currently started charge £2 to enter, and it is a fiver to run your car as many times as you want. There is a large selection of cars Scoobys, EVOs, Cossies etc. and even some more exotic stuff such as Porsche, TVR, Lotus etc. and last week there was a young lad (about 19 ) in a 22B Type UK!!
The next one is being held a week tommorow, I expect to see you there
RE: The Binfield Airfiled... I know four or five people who would be interested in doing that... we should discuss it at our first meet
SimonM
P.S. I didn't know about York, is it a RWYB?

Spoken to some contacts if nos are enough 30+
Can do a very reasonably priced trackday at Binbrook airfield with insructors specifically aimed at 4wd perfomance car driving skills, price would be just short of £100. We would have the venue for a full 8 hours. Muddy I'm looking at purchasing Gpa/n 205 gti 1.6 for club events have you got any contacts?? email me direct if you have please.
Thanks Geoff

Hi,
Unfortunately, I'm Scoobyless at the moment but I'm up for it as soon as I get my new Scooby, (3 weeks hopefully!).
Geoff, look out for a Sonic Blue instead of a White one on the Humber Bridge roundabout.

If all those that are interested in a meet for our region could e-mail me at evosix@evosix.f9.co.uk and let me know if you are alright with travelling to Doncaster for a meet then I can arrange one for next month.
Alternatively if you know elsewhere that we can meet mail me and let me know.
Cheers

Hi all
There are currently 11 people (including myself) interested in a "meet".
Thank you for your responses.
As SimonM has stated it could be a good time now to decide on a location, as Doncaster is quite central to everybody this seems quite logical, but your input is important too, so any ideas post here or e-mail SimonM.
Also, something else to think about is whether to have it on a weekday or weekend, yet again everybody's input is important.
Thanks again.
BTW- if you know of anybody else who posts on scoobynet then let them know that this is happening.
We ideally need 20-30 people to make track days etc affordable.
Muddy.
