Hi there,
I had to have the same thing with my WRX, (just got fitted today actually) the insurance company gave me the number for Toad, who came out and fitted a Trackstar for me for £400.

I have a Tracker system on mine which does the job fine, but there are some really funky systems out there. A couple of people I work with have the Imob tracker www.i-mob.co.uk which you can control from your mobile phone.

I just got trained up on fitting the i-mob system yesterday. Cracking bit of kit but at the minute it is not insurance approved and I beleive the inital cost is aprox £1000 (GULP) so you would still require an approved system fitting.
I have a tracker monitor and all has been ok , not that you get any indication that its working though.

I had Tracker Monitor on the Porsche and it worked brilliantly. We also had Trackstar Plus on our first Scoob and vowed never again.

There is quite a wide choice available.
Some are pro-active, some a re-active
Some work on with an tracker operator directing the police as to the location of the car. TRACKER works with police-in-car kit which picks up the TRACKER signal if its within range of the Police car.
There are different ways the units are activated etc also.
Its important to choose a good system and have it installed by a professional who takes the time to install and hide it properly.
NavTrack are good and so too is TRACKER

why bother? it does not take much to disable\jam them (from what i read) just get a quote from a company that does not require one, and save that cash for mods
try norwich union they don't require one

trackers work very effectively and many cars are recovered as a result. Only the other day I heard of armed police in Brum catching car-jackers in a stolen scoob as a result of a tracker.
Yes they are not bomb proof systems but choose the right one and get it fitted at the right place and you stand a better chance of recovering your car.

Trackers are a good idea but remember whatever system you use, no matter how gadgetry it is the info still has to get to us the police!!!
Usually this is by phone or PC and takes time. Then it has to be read, sent to the right comms centre and then sent out to Police vehcles.
We get more Tracker activations by passively using the sets as we (traffic that is!!) drive round the area.
Still, I have one on my Scoob!!
