Default Newbie advice

Hello chaps. I currently own an MX5 and am bored with the performance (hi pslewis!) so am thinking of getting one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=4527304547

I'm at the bottom of the market... however I know nothing about Imprezas really.... where should I start? I think I could get this for £3k, so what's the verdict. My only grip is there is no sunroof / aircon... What do I need to know?

Thanks (and sorry if this has all been done before as it prob has)

I've been directed towards subaru4u in Thatcham, nr Newbury... any experiences of them here?

Pete - cheers for your PMs BTW - yeah I took the plunge, to be honest I was sold on the test drive :-O (although the gear shift doesn't compare at all!)

I'm in Southampton, but will head up to Thatcham to make sure I get some expert advice and servicing, as I know little about these cars yet (I know a lot about '5 tho!)

Unfortunately the '5 will have to go, but I have a feeling I will be back (and it will be a BBR when that happens!)

Cheers Pete I'll take you up on that pint!
- nah the MX5 is just a boggo '91 1.6 - if you know anyone who wants a cheap one let me know! It's got upgraded suspension, exhaust & alloys otherwise very straight.

Good luck on the Merlot hunt - nice spec & colour. This one might be going:

Really? Did you go and look at it?

Quite surprising to find an MX5 with rust problems..

The sills go because the drain holes get clogged up, you probably know about this. I always use the radio aerial to clear the holes, works a treat!

Didn't go and view it .... he has posted on the MX5 Forums and asked where to go to get his sills sorted out!
