Default Changing big end bearings

Hi,
Does anyone know if you can change the big end bearings without taking the engine out? ie just by removing the sump.
My car is a MY95 STI RA
Big ends sound a little noisy on start up, so I hope I can catch them before they totally go.

Cheers,
Andy.

I don't think so. I wouldn't like to try it.
You'd never get enough ratchet movement to torque it up.

To be honest there may be other problems that need sorting so I wouldn't recommend it.
