Angry A wife's done it again..! Advice needed...

The wife, whilst reversing off her friends drive, has gone into a small brick wall..!!!!!!!!

It sounds as though it was a brick planter of some kind aprox. 30cm high x 40cm sq.

Anyhow after getting out and looking she thought there wasn't any damage. LOL.

So this evening she eventually mentions it (almost in passing) and I sh@t my pants, blow a fuse and get the torch out..

Guess what she was wrong!

From what I can see she's bent the rear offside lateral link (quite a bit) brick dust gave it away. There's a bit of a scrape on the ARB too but this seems OK.

Now she claims she was only going very slow (I do believe her on this..!) and stopped as soon as she realised she had hit something.

I was on the phone to main dealer immediately and they suggested they take a look asap (tomorrow).

Now I know the lateral link has got to be changed and the geom. checked, but my concern is could something else be bent..? (I realise this is a difficult one to answer).

If the geom. checks out would this mean everythings straight..? I want to be sure it's OK.

Very pi$$ed off 05 WRX owner..!!!!

Jason

Sorry mate but I have NO sympathy whatsoever. Any bloke that lets a split **** drive 20K's worth of brand new car is either A) rich, or B) stupid.

If you are A, then don't worry about it, if you are B, then I hope you have learnt your lesson.

My advise would be to use this as an opportunity whilst she feels she owes you. Loose a few no claims points but at least gain your brown wings

Sorry to hear about the mishap

Just to say as your not to far away from them get it into PowerStation for a full laser geometry session when it's sorted. They'll tell you if all the wheels are pointing in the right direction and then adjust everything to make the handling even better. Highly recommended by many on here.

Heres four for you

03 WRX PPP - 18 Hrs old, Sister opens rear passenger door into a small kid on a bike, Funny thing was the kid picked himself off the floor and appologised to HER

Girlfreind comes to me and says her punto is pulling to the left a bit, Drove it and **** myself. Got underneath to find the swinging arm bent and the arb with a kink at about 30' , Then admits shed been parked and took off in her normal warp speed forgetting that there was a parking separater island infront of her and landed on it

Girfriend comes to me again and says she bumped the car turning into our streets very small private road/parking, says she didnt see the wall. I pointed out to she that its allways been there

Lastly, needed guiding out of a very tight spot, so let her guide me, keeps telling me to move forward, and more, and more and BUMP!, she calmy tells me IVE hit a small wall

Women, cant live with - cant afford them either

Simon

Thanks guy's..!

Phoned another dealer today for a price on lateral link.. £98+ vat and fitting..!!!

Does anyone know;

a. Are they difficult to fit..? (looks straight forward to me- 2 bushes and arb droplink)

b. Are they tubular (hollow) or solid in construction..? (trying to gauge force needed to bend it like it is)

BTW I'm talking about the round section rear lat links.

That "Wife Trader" is a cheat! I recognise "Mrs Talbot", bottom right: it's Martha Longhurst, who died in the "Rovers" snug in 1962!!! Someone is having a laugh!

There is a simple equation you should remember,

woman + car = accident waiting to happen

or is it

(woman + car) = (Accident waiting to happen + Insurance³)

(bank Balance - Insurance³)

= Your screwed

Now there's an idea..!

Had an alignment check at local tyre place today (Lazer) and the rear offside was +2.5mm toe out (nearside +0.5)..!!! so I think i need it sorted asap.

Total cost of this little episode... £180.00 (with sidc disc.)
This is to supply, fit and align geom. I asked about geom settings and they said they would aligh to std. setup. Should this be OK..?

Don't bother trying to straighten suspension parts, they are inevitably weaker, and more often than not, not the exact original dimensions that they should be. Bite the bullet, pay the money, and let the other half know what she will be chewing on tonight
