P1 ticking noise - is it flange trouble?
On tickover there's a ticking noise which sounds like an alternator bearing or something.
The car's just been in for service and the garage says they think it's down to 'cracking on the mid exhaust flange - £225 to sort it out'
a) is this likely? (seems an off and remote cause of a ticking noise?)
b) do I need to sort out the mid-exhaust flange or just ignore it and wait until there's a bigger exhaust problem (car 3.5 years old, 37500 miles)

I'm no expert but I can't figure how they put a ticking noise down to a cracked exhaust flange More likely to be a noisy injector or something like you say a bearing or such like.
