I presume it's to stop the chickens escaping.
LOL, I remember the days when I read that (15 years old )
The Uk's loudest Cortina (brown ). Rover Sd1 dark destroyer. Lairy green Jettas, and not to mention Project Thunder that got smashed up by some **** who won it and counldn't drive. And I actually thought 3 spoke Antera Alloys looked cool 9for about 30 seconds )
All crap now, just birds, neons, and who has the best B&Q DIY shelving on the boot!
I hate all that max power shoite Wasnt a bad read when it first came out early 90's but now its just a joke with all the fiber glass and tat!

Or my fave: Cars and Car Conversions, TripleC.
Once read an article in there:"Make your Mk1 Escort handle like a rally car for less than £50.
I followed it and it worked!!! Those were the days! You could open a car bonnet and understand what you were looking at!

The mesh was the same as fitted to the WR1 and I agree it's horrible - God knows what it would look like on a black car!
I've just made a mesh - sprayed satin black, which sits back where the plastic bit starts, it's noticable but not at all intrusive - just right.
