Default Max power mess on Subaru stand

What was that mesh all about on the front of the 05 STi on the subaru stand at Auto sport today?

Please tell me its a halfords option?

saw that as well, its a very expensive halfords option at £230!!!

I hate all that max power shoite Wasnt a bad read when it first came out early 90's but now its just a joke with all the fiber glass and tat!

LOL, I remember the days when I read that (15 years old )

The Uk's loudest Cortina (brown ). Rover Sd1 dark destroyer. Lairy green Jettas, and not to mention Project Thunder that got smashed up by some **** who won it and counldn't drive. And I actually thought 3 spoke Antera Alloys looked cool 9for about 30 seconds )



All crap now, just birds, neons, and who has the best B&Q DIY shelving on the boot!

Does any one remember CUSTOM CAR mag and HOTCAR mag ......now im showing my age and i stiil got some copies .....sad or bloody what ?

Once read an article in there:"Make your Mk1 Escort handle like a rally car for less than £50.

I followed it and it worked!!! Those were the days! You could open a car bonnet and understand what you were looking at!

The mesh was the same as fitted to the WR1 and I agree it's horrible - God knows what it would look like on a black car!
I've just made a mesh - sprayed satin black, which sits back where the plastic bit starts, it's noticable but not at all intrusive - just right.

Funnily enough I past one today - saw in my mirror that it had the chrome mesh.IMHO it doesn't work on a black car.

Now Satin Black, thats a different thing altogether

Totally agree. Got my WR1 on a Saturday. Took the grille off to be powdercoated black on the Monday. Looks fine now.

There was an info sheet by the 05 STi on the subaru stand listing the mesh as a fitted option

I think it also had WR1 wheels aswell? They were certainly Prodrive rims..

thing is you have to remember 50 quid was a lot of dosh in the 70`s and early 80`s ......... those were the days ,no turbo just plenty of grunt
