Default Scooby ownership???

Hi guys,

I wanted to pick all your brains on a Dilemma I am having - I have been contemplating replacing my Evo with a Scoob RA or Type R (not sure of the differences?) or an Integra Type R (the new shape as I know these are alot cheaper to run than my evo - had one before). I love my Jap performance cars so still want one (that is quite exclusive - limited edition), but the Evo is expensive to run, and I’m looking to move and get a new place, and as such need a cheaper ride :-( .

I have looked for an Impreza buyer guide, much like the Evo one that is floating around but can find nothing. There are sooo many different models of scoobs, around but im told the type r is a really good one to go for - is this correct?

Also what are the running costs of the Scoob like in comparison to the evo, like servicing, wear and tear (tyres etc), fuel ,insurance etc or is there anything in it?

I guess a budget of 13000 - 15000 would be my limit once the Evo has gone (or part Xed). Could this buy me a decent Type R or RA and is this the model to go for? (and if so which version of it or should i go for?) Should I give the idea of another turbo'ed car a miss and just go for the cheaper ITR option?

Thanks guys for any advice!!!

Hi mate,
The Type-R is a 2 door Coupe - With regards to running costs i'd say they would be pretty much same as the Evo -

Hello

I have a WRX Type R V limited, the Type R is 2 door and the RA 4 door. In my opinion the type R's are the more pure cars, being light weight, more power etc and more exclusive.personally i've never been in a car which feels as awesome and handles better, thats why i have it.

In truth the running costs of the subaru are very simialar to the EVO, my friend has a Tommy Makk edditon Evo, but i must admit his service bit is huge as he has to use a main dealer, i use a Scoob specialist, he has also had a world of nightmares, diffs, boxes, brakes and i have only had one problem with the lamda sensor

the fuel bills are still high and the insurance is not cheap, i'm 25 7yrs NCB and pay £1270 with a tracker and alarm, i use it as second car so the fuel bill is less.

if you are interested i'm going to sell my Type R, its a WRX V Limited in Rally blue (2 door with roof vent) no 234/1000, its got 39,674 miles with full history, i have recently had the discs and pads changed all round, it has been fully serviced with the cambelt and all fluids being replaced, the tyres are all 6,000 miles old and good condition, the only reason i am letting it go, and i'm not happy is due to buying a house with the lady, if you want a reference for the car call john or peter at prosport subaru in stockport.

if you are interetsed or want to chat call me on 07843 050753, i'm offlline for the weekend now.

Ray
