Question Vortex BB from Bugeye to Classic

How different are these 2 ?

I have an Afterburner Vortex fitted on my Bugeye Sport and as some of you will have read I am picking up a MY00 classic turbo on the weekend
The Vortex is coming off the bug and I want to look into fitting it onto the classic.

How different are these ?
Is it an easy conversion to change over ?

I should add it's an angled exit one.

Thanks
Simon

Simon

You will have no problem fitting it to your classic.
I have the same system on my classic MY00.The noise it makes once de-catted is truely stunning.

Doesn't the bug BB have an extra hanger over the classic?

Doesn't the GX use a different bore exhaust to the Turbos?

It's just the last 8" or so to the joint Ian, it's a tapered section thats welded on.
All I need is that last part cut off and replaced with the same larger bore.
The engineering department in work comes in handy some times.. all one of him lol

I'm not sure on an extra hanger Brun ? as it is now it just has one hanger on the silencer fitting into two rubber holders ?

I figure I'll have to talk to H&S regarding the short enlarge bore section as it is but I am curious to see exhactly how different the two are before I call them.

my 00MY turbo has 2 hangers, but like you say, they actually go into 3 rubber bushes, (2 are opposite each other at the rear but use the same hanger bracket from the box)

whilst waiting for my ppp on my old bugeye sti i fitted the scoobysport backbox off my old my97/p1, it bolts straight on, the rear hanger lines up but the centre hanger doesnt, you could cut if off, turn it round and reweld it but i didnt bother, was only on there a couple of months

Simon, the hanging bracket near the the front of the tail pipe will need cutting and turning around , suggest you fit your vortex and chop and re-weld while on the car to get the correct alignment, the angle exit runs pritty close to one of the output shafts and you dont want it to foul .
If you need access to a pit let me know as i can help you out with that one.

I dont know about the vortex, But the tsl one i had on my classic fitted on to my bugeye no problems and as said its just a case of turning one hanger round.
