Exclamation Subaru getting a bit Arsey with dv fitted

Just got back from my local dealer in Stourbridge (no names) as my emissions light came on a few days ago? Wanted to get it checked out! Apparently one of the breather pipes had come off and it was saying "to lean". Anyway sorted thank goodness!

Then to my surprise they got all arsey and began blaming me for "tinkering" around under the bonet!? They then told me off for fitting an after market dump valve trying to say it was that causing the problem! I then asked the guy to show me which breather pipe had come off? which he did! Guess what? It was no where near the dump valve I fitted months ago! He then went on to say that Subaru are becoming much more harsh on clamping down on these type of items under th bonet? I should be careful as it will be paying for the new valves if it was running lean!! Although my dv clearly had nothing to do with the loose pipe that had come off!!

I wouldnt mind if I had been tinkering but I really wouldnt know where to start!!
Any way ive got that off my chest now! So watch out folks especially if your cars still got warranty like mine!!!

Cheeky f..e...kers!!

Anyone else had any arsey dealings with dealers?

I had decat and centre section when I took mine in and the mech who worked on it noticed and and smiled about it . The warranty ran out this month and I wondered if anything had gone wrong what would they have said?

Some dealers are fine about thing and will change parts over if there's going to be a warranty claim that will involve Subaru coming to look at the car.

Personally i'd take it as a free warning.

I went to a local dealer to ask about the effects on warranty if I had backbox and de-cat centre section.

To sum up his advice..."Don't worry about it"

Well I could say the same for the very same dealers messing with my Dumpvalve....

They broke the vacuum hose fitting, and glued in a bit of brake pipe - which lasted a
whole 2 weeks. - thing was still under warrantee too (why not replace it? )

Probably the same heavy handed mecahnic also broke the casing on my alarm siren too.

Oh yes...they were arsy. "Was like that before we had it sir" Right ok, 1 female previous owner (assuming females wouldn't tinker under the bonnet) and FSSH at the very same dealers and they sold me the fecking thing aswell

Unhappy ownership

the only problem with the dealership in stourbridge is that it has been bought by international motors.so they might become a little bit more arsee about modification!!

so you buy a car with warranty modify it and then when they tell you a dump valve causes problems-do a search including greasemonkey they get arsey, they could have invalidated your warranty there and then-they have warned you basically

I saw a scoob at my local dealer with a blown gearbox thing is the owner thought that the warranty was going to cover it but he had fitted NOS Funnily enough Subaru didn't believe that at the time the gearbox blew he wasn't using the NOS

granted, the only mod on the car is the dv and it does give better throttle response! Dont worry in future it will go in with its standard oem dv! My point was they were trying to pass the buck onto me and I wouldnt know where to start under that bonnet? I dont tinker? I have taken the warning!

Dude,

Fact is - if you tinker with the car - you invalidate your warrenty. Some dealers will even go as far as stamping your warrenty book "INVALID" if they find you've say decatted the car during a service.

IM are getting a lot hotter on this subject... they'll do anything to wiggle out of paying.... if you even change the air filter for a non standard one and the engine goes pop they'll be telling you its not there problem..... You could then spend thousands on legal costs taking them to court to prove it wasnt anything to do with said air filter....but who is going to do that?

So i think the guys given you a fair warning. If your engine goes pop now - you know that the guy is going to tell you to get stuffed if you ask IM to pay... so i think thats fair enough.

If your not bothered about the warrenty - which i assume you aren't - why the hell are you going to a subaru dealer in the first place??? There's lots of specialists about who will do a better job for a lot less money?
