Battery questions?
I have a WR1 which gets used about once a week. The problem is that since having the car I have had a flat battery twice.
Is there a better battery that I can get from the dealers and will they have to replace it free of charge??
thanks in advance fro any answers

Get yourself a battery charger/conditioner plug it in and it will keep your battery fully charged and in tip top condition, letting your battery go flat all the time will kill it in the end.
I got mine from deemon tweeks £60 and you can keep it connected permanently, designed for people with cars / bikes that get little use or are parked up for long periods of time.

Get the alternator checked out. The car has a special alternator that only runs when it's needed. I've heard of a WR1 which had an alternator that never ran at all. The alternator & battery were replaced under warranty.

This happens to quite a few of 02/03 STi owners (inc. me) Lots of us have had the battery changed under warrenty for a higher capacity item (60Ahr as opposed to the std. 48Ahr) Even this will give problems if allowed! Get the battery changed then treat yourself to a charger/conditioner as mentioned. I got an "Accumate 6/12" for £34 + Vat + delivery (next day!) from Shadowfax Probike 01604 660555

You will find that all MY 03's onwards including WR1 have a "smart alternator" fitted, which only cuts in and charges "when needed", so if no load on electrics - no charge, so unless you wanna drive it l;ike a volvo and switch your side lights on,then resolve yourself to topping up with a trickle charger. Especially as most Wr1's only come out of the garage maybe once a week anyway. Other than that, its a case of disconnecting the battery to save on battery drain due to alarms/trackers.
