AFAIK the type r is a two-door shell like the P1, and the RA is a four-door shell.

Servicing and parts are not a problem for the ra with the amount of specialists there are now

My MY00 RA is mapped optimax only and ran over 320bhp recently on two different rolling roads.

Biggest difference is gearing P1 has the higher 5th ratio where as the ra/r tend to have a lower 5th for pure acceleration. The higher 5th was a jdm option though and some have it fitted some dont.

Ignore all the rubbish you read about ra being stripped out , no electrics etc, get a limited version and get all the kit. Mine came standard with 4 electric windows, climate with air con, central locking, electric adjustable and folding mirrors, swrt blue alcantara seats ( would would be surprised how many offers I have had to sell them ). blue centre console, blue dash surround, sti lightweight gold alloys, abs.

Out of the box there is nothing quicker than a type r/ra subaru wise. Even Evo owners get scared and start talking about stripped out evo rs versions when you roll an ra out LOL.
