Ok everyone - remember my post about advice regarding me buying a WRX ? Well I've done it. I travelled up to Nottingham early this morning and had a look at the car and it is, in my opinion, in seriously mint condition.
It's a very dark metallic blue with all the usual bits, plus it has a LARGE stainless system on it and a blow off valve of some nature. I also got them to put a set of 17" gold Speedlines on it.
I now know what all the fuss is about. Having never driven one before I can only say how impressed I was with the performance and handling-especially the handling.
My problem now......car is not going to be registered and serviced etc. until probably the end of the week and I'm dying to get my hands on it. Suppose it's something to look forward to
Can I join your gang now?????

Trig - I'm not sure about track days yet, but I will definately be coming along to observe all you nutters!!! It's a 23000 miler and I gave 15 for it. I know it's top money for the car but it is in seriously mint condition with quite a few goodies plus the warranty for my peace of mind.
Stef - Yes I went to Charlesworths and I have to agree with what you said-they do seem to know their stuff. A very professional and competent garage.
Ian - thanks mate . S'pose I'd better join the SIDC now then.
This is gonna be a very long week.......

the jap WRX is designed for 100Ron fuel, personally i would say yes but many people seem to run on 97 ron without problems.
Do a search in the drivetrain and general sections, you should find some interesting debate.
I am paranoid about detonation myself and tend to drive cars quite hard, i think for the cost, aprox £4 for millers, its worth the piece of mind.

Thanks all
I think I'll look into buying Millers octane booster in crates to see if I can get it cheaper. I'll ask my mate who owns his own garage to find out for me.
Where can I get an STI logo for my Nokia 3210? I know my car's not an sti but the logos nice isn't it
Does the SIDC have local groups with regular meetings or is it just a case of trying to organise something?

I recently bought a box worth om Millers from Auto-Technic of Mirfield W.Yorks, charged me £25 inc Vat which includes 10 bottles, if funds allow it's obviously worth buying in bulk.......I wonder what discount they'd give me for 3 years worth !!!

Welcome Dave W,
What version/year is your WRX ??
I own a STI V5 and recently purchased Brouquet which was heavily recommended on this site to get my RON up, I can could use UL at that lovely sub £1.80 price (unseen for a while.Although I will still use SUL.
The car runs smoother and I have noticed better fuel economy (still less than 1 month since installed).DIY fitment was a test of patience but I finally dropped the torpedo shaped pellet bags in to each tank opening.
Haven't tried Octane booster, I suppose it does the same.Broquet is a one off application lasting (quoted) 250,000 miles.
Broquet..Peter Wright 0113 2790016
Hope that helps ...Ian

Welcome to the fold Dave.
Just keep any eye on the events section on here, for your local area. That is where ALL the events appear (SIDC are light years behind)

My car had better not take that long!!!!!
It was being prepared today for it's SVA test tomorrow, and then it will be registered with the DVLA (this will PROBABLY cause a delay). The wheels were ordered today and of course the CAT 1 alarm has to be fitted. I was hoping for this weekend but realistically i reckon I'm looking at about tuesday or wednesday next week .
Still, it's something to look forward to

Dave W if you haven't got a UK reg plate already you can pick up a nice ?? WRX from the DVLC at the normal price, that is if it hasn't yet been UK registered.
Mine came with ZZ's all over its plates it was imported from Japan then on to Rep Ireland then to Bristol for SVA bits.
..Ian ?? WRX

Nice idea Ian but I've already got my private plate on retention from my old car. Hence the wrx will be registered by Charlesworths on an M reg, and once my retention documents come through I'll be putting my reg. on it.
Any ideas on the STI logo for my Nokia phone?
