13000 miles front tyres scrubbed?
Done 13000 miles from new in 03 WRX, very rarely gets driven hard and the front tyres are bald. Mainly on the outside edge on the passenger side and inside edge on the drivers side but barely legal on the other edges. How many miles do you expect on a set, the rears are perfect. The tracking maybe out but that would also surprise me as its never even been curbed.

Did you swap the wheels front to rear at any time? I think the handbook recommends swapping them every 6k miles to maximise life. The outside edge of the passenger front tyre is the one which takes the most load on roundabouts and that is only to be expected on standard geometry.
I would recommend getting your geometry checked by Powerstation, or some other reputable four-wheel laser alignment garage. Adding negative camber will reduce the wear on the outside edges and improve grip on corners.

I did not swap the wheels around as I thought we would get 20 to 30 thousand from a set. We have had 3 Golf's before the Scoob and had never had to buy a single tyre for any of them. I know the Scoob is higher performance but did not realise tyres would only last this long.

i had an 01 wrx and the wheels went totally bald on the inner edge! I then had the suspension changed and the wheels laser aligned, the tyres then had an even wear accross them!
I know have an sti, which i uprated the suspension within months of buying and only 4000 miles, my friend also bought an sti but did not bother on new suspension and alignment. He has since had to change both tyres and mine are ok

I got 21k also out of my first set on my 03 wrx with changing front to back. I had to get my alignment sorted at 10k as the passenger side was scrubbing......again never kerbed, but don't forget about potholes or sunken manhole covers.

Rears lasted 6,500 miles
Relatively standard MY99 with prodrive geometry settings and bumpsteer mod

As mentioned, a trip to PowerStation (although they are busy moving premises), TSL or similar specialist would be money well spent in the long term. I wouldn't personally use any "high street" chains for a job like this.

i meant to say that its the alignment that sorted it for me, not necessarily the new springs.
HAve to agree with the above posts that the manufacturers set-up is very poor, and the likes of kwik fit etc dont have kit up to the task for a scoob.

In MY03 WRX, I'm at 16k on original tyres and have just moved tyres front to back. Front were getting very thin on edges exactly the same as you, but rears are fine. Hopefully get away with another 5k+ before all need changing ? I kerbed one rear wheel badly in the snow last winter (playing), but that one was fine for wear.
I don't drive like Miss Daisy, but a lot is motorway, so can't have much fun, although I do have a play occassionally. Must think about geometry set up.

I got 19k out of the original Brigstones on the rear, bald on the inside, but only 8.5k on the RE 050's on the front, out side edge bald. asked the dealer about it and told me it was aggressive cornering! nothing they can do but charge me to check setup. So had four proxies fitted at a local tyre place and a laser check showed every setting was a mile out!

I put 4 new reo50's on at 11500 miles and that included a swap front to rear and I also turned the tyres on the rims to get that out of em.
I blame the missus.

going for these next and wouldn't mind a heads up on wear rate.

Well I must hold the record for the mileage I've done on mine - 29,000 and still okay.
I've swapped front to rear once and have very even wear on all 4.
Mainly motorway driving, but also some quick A and B road stuff.

I scrapped my front Potenza tyres with only 500 Miles on the clock running it in a silverstone.
Dealer wasnt happy at first service and refused to check the tracking until i had the new Prodrive wheels on. (which i am still waiting for)
They are really nice tyres, but very soft and i would be suprised if they would last 12K plus.

Running Pirelli P Zero Nero's on 18" rims. Mainly motorway like you but the odd backroad. 32K miles and counting. At the 30K service they had 4M front and 5M rear tread left! I was starting to think I was doing something wrong after the stories of "most I got out of mine was 150-yards". Nice to see that I'm not the only one doing ok on this.
think it'll be another set of the same after this.

I assume the grip level is still OK with the P Zero's?
When I tested the car the rep told me they didn't need traction control with the amount of mechanical grip, but I don't find it very difficult to get the wheels spinning in the wet.

When i sold my 03wrx it had about 9000 miles on it,front and rear tyre outer edges were basicallt torn to bits.I rotated tyres about 4 times in that milage. The tyres were the standard reo50 and i thought the grip from these was very good.Got 04STI now with 1300 miles on it,front outer edges are already starting to scuff up quite noticably so the rotation habit will soon start all over again

Outer edge of front passenger's side and inside edge of front driver's side I would equate with enthusiastic roundabout(ing).
Also occurs to me that RH bends you can see more than on LH bends but the camber is wrong IYSWIM.

I've done 16k miles on my original Bridgestones. I had the front ones swapped a couple of thousand miles back, but they are badly worn on the shoulder (probably due to a lot of MK roundabout driving). There is loads or tread left on the main part of the tyres, but I guess there isn't much I can do about that.
Having read this thread, I probably would have been better swapping fronts and rears, but for some reason that just didn't occur to me. Doh.
Anyone know of anywhere good in Beds/Bucks to get the alignment done properly? Not sure but this could be contributing to the very uneven wear.
Thanks
