I'm popping to Belgium on Monday, and can't get through to my insurers (Barclays). Is there a problem with going without telling them?

Also - I've read many posts saying the petrol in France is 97 or greater ron - is that true in Belgium as well? And what's the petrol called (I only use super - wrx)

If you cannot get through to your insurers, you may risk being on only the minimum legal insurance. ie 3rd party - no F&T.

SUL is easy to get in France. All French pumps will show the octane rating. Saying "nerf-wheat" always worked for me!

Can't help with insurance, but can help with fuel...

All petrol stations in Belgium (except a few mom&pop shops, 1 % or so) have Super98 unleaded (next to 95), and it is marked as such. Esso, Shell, Texaco, BP, Q8, Fina, ... you name'm, we have'm.

Some even do 99+ (Texaco used to, Seca still does, but not sure about the quality).

Beware if you ever go to Italy though... no 98 or even 97 in the whole of the country. Been there, done that, have T-shirt...
