Calling all UK tuners John banks and the like. I have take delivery of a 05 sti and as a project next year would like to aim for 500bhp as a daily drive. Hasn't been done in SA so looking for any comment, advise suggestions etc.

For info our cars are same as the Aus spec 260bhp in Stock form. We are able to run catless exhausts and leaded racing fuel with a RON of 102.6

Initial shopping list as I see it is as follows:

2.5Sti block (internals?) any Head work? compression?
3inch Exhaust, headers
BIG turbo (type?)
Fuel pump (capacity?), fuel rails
Injectors (capacity?)
Ecutek mapping
Lead tolerant Lambda sensor
Induction - Pod
Front mount
water injection (maybe?)
what else?

Any comments appreciated

Im thinking a 500bhp daily driver is pretty optimistic. You would porbably need to throw the whole engine away and start again, but i will let those with brains help you all the same

Fair comment, we have +-420bhp running in a Sti7 as a daily drive at the moment so is another 80bhp so much harder to acheive

IIRC, the standard STi heads tend to struggle at much over 400bhp - sure a few people came across that problem. Also have a recollection of a few people popping head gaskets with big power on the 2.5. In both cases, second/third hand knowledge
