Default Actual Cost for WRX PPP - is fitting included?

Chaps

Anyone with PPP fitted, can you advise if you paid the £1600 all in, or whether this was for the kit and fitting was on top. The ever-helpful Subaru website says:

"£ 1600.00 (including fitting) (inc VAT, exc Fitting)"

which is really helpful!

My PPP was fitted yesterday, and I drove to Maidenhead dealer to get it done where they do the 10% SIDC discount (otherwise I would have gone to my local dealer). I expected the cost to be £1600 less 10% (160) = £1440. Actual charge was:

PPP Kit - List £1429.79, less discount £142.98 = £1286.81
Supply & fit of PPP kit - £175.50

Sub total = £1462.31
VAT = £255.90
TOTAL = £1718.21

So I ended paying more than I thought. Does that mean that those of you who have had PPP fitted have paid a £175 fitting charge (or thereabouts) on top of the cost of the kit (ie a total of 1600 (incl VAT) + 175.50 )and VAT on this is = 206.21 - a total of £1806.21?

Anyone clarify what they paid before I confirm with Subaru. It seems very poor if they quote a price that does not quote the whole price, or have I just been a muppet?

Assistance appreciated... thanks

Andy

PS PPP kit is bloody excellent on MY05...

One dealer, when I was about to order my car quoted £2000 fitted for the kit on a WRX SL, When I phoned around for a better offer I got quoted £1600 all in, plus this particular dealer gave me extra discount, so all in all a couple of phone calls saved me over £600, a good few minutes work..

i thought it was 1600 for wrx inc fitting
and
2000 for sti because (on the sti you get a new fuel pump) inc fitting

so its seems you paid too much

£2k is for the STi kit, 1600 is standard for the WRX kit, so I think I've been stitched up. WIll wait to see who else posts but thanks for the info. Andy

Looks like they had bad Clerical error, trying to work backwards taking away VAT, the seperating 10% of PPP price and the 10% of Labour

Thanks chaps - prettuy much ties it up. Think a phone call is in order today to get a refund. Cheeky gits though - I had to ask for the old exhaust sytstem back as I feel regardless of what I will or will not do with it, that I should have it as it's mine and the guy said 'yeah, we've got loads of old systems lying around', which says to me they have done a few PPP's and therefore should know what the charge is. We'll have to see...

Thanks again all of you.

mightyyid,
Agree with Tony, you've been had and they should refund you. My PPP (on a WRX) cost around £1480 all in, which included an oil and filter change at the same time.

Yep, Subaru have confirmed that the £1600 is all in, with VAT and fitting. Service Manager now 'reviewing' to see what happened and am waiting for the call back. Have said to him I expect it to be £1440 so we'll see.

Makes you wonder how many others have been overcharged - its not the first time I've heard of this "clerical error".

Thanks guys

Dealer admitted mistake and has refunded the difference - therefore, the final price I paid for the PPP incl VAT and fitting was £1440. Excellent!

At least you'll have a bit spare to put towards your insurance now!

I take it they were quite understanding?

Give us some feedback on what it's like - maybe a week or so down the line?

Phil

As SIDC Chairman, I understand where you are coming from!!!

I looked on the SIDC site to suss out where the nearest who would offer a discount would be - to be in Guildford, Maidenhead was the nearest. For a small part, not worth it, but for a £1600 investment, it certainly was. In the end it cost me time (about 40 mins each way) but when I got there the women said she;d phone me. I'm like ' sorry, I can't go anywhere as I live in Surrey so I'll just wait' and she says, 'oh I've got a spare car, take that and come back later'. Which was nice...

So I did - and that cost £10 in fuel to be safe. The saving of £160 was well worth it, and although my local dealer will probably not be happy (didn;t buy the car from them, and then the next time they see it to align the wonky steering wheel, it will have PPP on it) that's just tough. They said no to a discount, so come SIDC. Thanks again...

As for a report, you're right. I need a week or two to get settled in and use it on all roads and all conditions before getting carried away. But its good so far. Cheers fellas

Andy

Arranged insurance from the start with L&V knowing PPP would be coming very shortly (it was always in the plan from the start as part of the deal with Mrs Yid). They said no issues so I will have to copy the certificate and send it to them to show its been fitted and take pics, but that should do the trick. They were fine - not the cheapest without, but the cheapest with....
