What might a V3 WRX STi with a blown engine be worth
Hi I have a V3 wrx sti in imaculate original condition in white 1996 P reg 68k only one problem big ends are shot and it needs a rebuild, have been quoted about 2k I have not had the car long and I would prefer to sell it as it is to get some money back, as I need working transport ASAP. as I know little about these cars I am trying to guess what this would be worth now before the engine problem I would think it was worth about 7k any advice would be appreciated

No way it'll be worth 7k, I'd guess at 3-4k with a blown engine, maybe not even that. Means someone has to collect with a trailer, trust you that nothing else is wrong as they cant really test drive it and go to the hassle of sorting it all out.

Would it not be worth putting in at least a secondhand known good engine for say 2K....Then asking your 7K back,That way you have only lost the 2K,And not 3-4K by selling it dead....????????

You'll be long gone before they know what's happened!

Hmm, I did something similar once. Didn't want a new car, but trader offered £2.5k for my car, which was only worth £2k in good nick.
Forgot to mention the new gearbox requirement and numerous oil leaks as well at £1.5k+. Buyer beware and all that They dont always check!
