strange ticking noise!!!!!!!!!

strange ticking noise!!!!!!!!!
I have a sti typre R and when i accelerate the wastegate controller ( small cylinder thing on left of engine) or cellunoid makes a ripid clicking noise that can be heard from within the car, is this normal???

Get this on my MY98 also but not all the time. Mostly notice it a very light throttle openings ans at low revs. Also it occassionally runs on ticking for a second after the engine has been turned off.

yeah thats it. Any idea if it is a problem that needs to be fixed.

mine does it too, MY97 wagon. samll solenoid thing just above/next to the air filter. on the left wing, does exactly the same as yours & carries on a bit when you swith the engine off too, not bothered too much though as it only does it every now & again.

I’ve not heard of anybody’s totally failing but I’m sure it’s a possibility. You can clean them out every so often (you will find out the procedure if you do a search) But they are supposed to tick. You can mount them on a bit of rubber or sponge to reduce the ticking in car. I’m sorry I don’t know what would happen if it stopped working.
