Default Too good to be true?

Spotted these 2x P1's on Autotrader both going for £13,995 -

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www...ch_full=SEARCH

These too good to be true do you think? seem to be few grand cheaper than most for sale, possibly look a likes or something?

Looking at getting another Scoob but don't want a Bug eye and can't afford a new shape model, don't really know what to go for and just came accross the two cars above.

Yea I had an 1999 STI V5 Type R about a year ago, sold it as wanted cheaper car to run (now got a 2002 Civic Type R) but would like to get another Scooby

Only thing I keep thinking about is going back to an older car and for it not to be a bug eye the newest I could go for would be a MY00 car. Plus wouldn't be in warranty, and it's nice to have the piece of mind with the CTR if anything goes **** up it ain't going to put a big hole in my pocket!

Only thing with getting an STI is I would prefer one that has been re mapped for UK fuel (had a LINK ECU in last car & it went very nicely ) but don't seem to be many about? and the standard ones that are about seem to be going for silly money e.g about £14K!

Be carefull about leaving your postcode on the autotrader link you have submitted. Any Chav could get your address from this and then it would be bye bye scooby!

I'm always carefull with stuff like this on the net as you dont know who could be looking!!

Just thought i'd let you know!

Its true; itll take 30 seconds to get your address and a route map to your house. It might be beyond your local charver population though.

Simon

Im guessing that you live on a road with a Cornish connection?

There isnt a lot of that goes on though is there? Recently I recall a Litchfield Type 25 being used for a ram raid and abandoned; P1 without wheels burnt out and several others. Most stolen Scoobies are either used in a crime; ragged about or stripped. Organised car theft is a tiny percentage of overall theft and many of the cars are stolen by people whod do one of the things I mentioned before if the chance to sell it didnt present itself. Gangs of highly professional thieves stealing to order is, for the most part, a fancifull myth perpetuated by the press.

I haven't seen the ads you mention but i suspect i know one of the cars which you're talking about. Low mileage (20k to 30k) P1's tend to hold their value (£17k to £19k range) better than some of the higher mileage examples (50k upwards). Though mileage isn't always the main factor as with any car, if it's been meticulously looked after then a higher miler is still a good buy. Also look to see if they have any of the Prodrive upgrade bits like big brakes, that'll add value to a P1.

P1's are a bit specialist, if the market's slow then people will drop their asking price if they need to sell in a hurry.

I'm selling mine shortly (28k, VGC) and will be looking for £17k to £18k.

Thanks for the advise on the postcode thing, didn't think of that!

Although they would have a hard job taking my scoob...........cus I ain't got one yet lol.

Maybe a classic STI is the way to go?

IWAN - So are these P1's with 20k dodgy then?

Or I could get an EVO 6?

Subaru Springfield Motors are advertising a mint low mileage at £16k so you should get it in the 15's at least. Quite tempted to buy one now as a run around

Dunno mate you'd have to take a good look at them, there are a few really low mileage examples about. About 6 months before i bought mine there was one in a local Subaru dealers with 1600 miles on the clock! The owner had just used it for saturdays and it was immaculate!

I'd love an Evo 6 (Tommi Makkinen editoin) if i wasn't buying a house, sadly i need the money though!

You can save money buying an import STI but you'll find it harder locating a Subaru dealer who'll do servicing, also there'll be no warranty. Where are you based? If you're interested in looking at my P1 give me a shout, it's got Subaru warranty till Sept 2006 (and can be extended), i haven't advertised it yet but will be sorting some pics out shortly.

I live in Suffolk mate (East Anglia).

How much you going to be asking for yours then? Just don't know if it's worth spending about 4-5K more for a P1 than an STI? Also I could get a brand new CTR for the price of a 4 year old P1, although Scoobs more fun ..........decisions decisions!
