Default Quieter dump valves. Such a thing ?

Hi All,

Is there such a thing as a quieter dump valve ?

I've got a 1993 WRX Import, with a HKS induction kit and standard dump valve, but the nosie is getting on my t!ts a little.

Its just that I'm knocking on the door of forty and bought the car for the driving experience, not to floor it in first thru town just to hear the whooshing noise to impress the Chav's.

Aftermarket valves seem to market themselves on the increased noise, I want the opposite. I know there's gonna be more noise thru the induction filter i've got, but I would like to turn the volume down a bit

Don't wanna sound like an old fart, but loud dump valves, you either love em or hate em in my opinion.

Much rather listen to the boxer motor on full song !

Any suggestions on possible solutions

Cheers

It's not the DV you need to change, it's the Induction kit - this is what you can hear (sounds like a DV) - you'll need to get a standard air box and panel filter

Is it poss to cut the noise coming out of the induction kit ?

Seems a shame to change it as its virtually brand new.

I changed back to the standard dump valve when I bought my car and the stupid noise disappeared, just get the usual whistles and minor dump valve noise when moving with haste.

You should hear the sucking of the induction kit as you accelerate and the obvious phssst noise as you throttle off or change gear etc.
If it's the phssst you hate, change the DV for a recirculating one that doesn't vent to the atmosphere.
Just removed my induction kit for the airbox, the noise is massively reduced....except for the dv which is proper phsssting, just like i love it!!!
