This sounds like a normal STI as a Norm WRX RA or STI RA would have the Adjustable diff control, because mine is a 96 sti ra and it has a diff control plus the I/C Spray.

It sounds like a 555 limited, should also have a plaque on the dash somewhere saying which number it is, and if you do buy it, dont do what some fool did a few weeks back when i saw him on the motorway and have the roof vent opened, even i can fathom out that 80km means dont open above that (50mph for a quick conversion )

This may or may not help!

I have a 95 (v2) STi 555 V-Ltd - but I believe there is a similar v3 (which a 96/P would be - this should have the facelift front and black dials)

It is the normal 4 door STi (red top engine, STi suspension, STi interior, full electric pack etc.)

The V-Ltd bits it comes with are roof vent, quick shift, carbon strut brace, i/c water spray

It does not come with the driver control centre diff (dccd)

It does not have a ltd edition plaque but the chassis code identifies it as a V-Ltd.

There is a big difference between opening and having open....

Open one at speed and it will fly open/shut (finger cut off hazard I guess...)

Far as a can see the brackets supporting it and it's design structurarly is quite adequate for the purpose that way of operating in airstreams well above 50mph.

Bit of pointless feature otherwise.

Evening all..
got the car today....checked the engine number thingy and it seems the car is just a sti3..not an ra...although it does have a roof vent....had to ring and change the insurance as i had insured it as a type ra...still confused mind you...the car is also a 97 car not 96 as first thought so real barain after all...
so i guess i will never know what it really is....???????
it great though...ye haaa just taking it easy running on optimax..waiting on the old octane booster so keeping under 5K revs at the minute....

They did make a V-Ltd edition that year, 4 door with the roof vent. I spent ages trying to find one, but then, when I told the insurance Co. it was the V-Ltd, they wanted an extra £500!!!! So, I got a straight MY97 P reg Sti and saved on the insurance! I think all the V-Ltd's were blue, if that helps.
