Default should sti's have ic water spray?

Hi all
I have looked at an sti iv today which i am thinking of buying,my two concerns are that it didn't have an ic water spray,I thought they all had it?And it was on the V5 as a wrx?I took it for a test drive and it felt as quick as other sti's i've driven but i'm not sure?
Thanks for your help

It's usefulness is debatable but I use it when I get a chance if I'm giving it some.

STi's should have the IC water spray, is this a 4 door or 2 door car your looking at?
There should be some simple givaways to see if its an STi, the dash should have an STi logo on it, the redline will be at around 8k, you should also get the model code and look here>>> www.sidc.co.uk to see exactly what it is.

It was a 4dr.It had an sti strut brace, sti badges on the wings, sti on the instrument surround and it had aluminium boot and bonnet. Also had tuned by sti on the intercooler.I'm not bothered that it hasn't got it,just dont want to pay sti money for a wrx.

Might it be a WRX Coupe? The applied model code will tell.

One easy way to tell is if it's got a 6 speed box, WRX has a 5.

STI has a red painted inlet manifold, on the WRX it's bare metal.

Sounds like an STI to me, then. As for the details on the V5, I'm not at all surprised it jut says WRX. DVLA have trouble recording even the most basic details on imports.

Didn't think that the classic STi Saloons had waterspray (more-in - it was a treat for the Type R's/RA's)?

I would say that the waterspray does work, as we fitted one to a mates UK scoob (controlled by a SECS unit), and boost instantly went from 1.24 bar to 1.27 - not much of a rise - but arise none-the-less)

As above, an STi of that age won't have water spray- only the Type R and Type RA IIRC.

I have a version 3 and no, they don't have the water spray, it was just for the R/RA's. Don't think you mentioned the seats, should be red winged with STI logo. Check the GC8 No, should be GC8E4ED I believe, mine is GC8D4ED MY97 (Check the faq's though). As mentioned above, the WRX red lines at 7,500 and the STI 8,250, although the line begins around the 8,000 mark. Sounds like a genuine one from what you've said and yes the log books often just say Subaru, not even Imprezza! So if it says WRX too, your doing better than most!!!

I have a sti 555 with the ic waterspray.

You can feel the difference before and after- it definitely picks up harder, although it's only of any effect for a short period of time after it's triggered.

Does tend to eat water though.
