Can a gps unit like Road angel be used to operate a sat nav unit? I've got a pda which I use as a map, but no sat receiver. Thinking of getting a road angel or origin B2 unit.

Can I use the unit as a reciever for the sat nav programme?

Have you looked into tomtom? I use tomtom with my iPaq 4150 (works on palms as well) and it gives me GPS satnav and fixed speedtrap detection.

If it can output an NMEA sentence; it probably cant.

I have indeed looked at Tom Tom, its what I use. I was wondering if I could use the GPS signal from the speed trap unit as the input to sat nav.

The list of camera sites probably comes from pocketgps; its OK; but dont rely on it as Ive found a LOT missing. Btw; you can convert the .ov2/ovr file format to .csv and import them into Autoroute, which is nice.

If youre using TomTom Navigator then look at www.pocketgps.co.uk . Download the camera site list and also one of the POI synchronising applications. With this Navigator will warn you of upcoming points of interest; in this instance, speed cameras.

I've used a Road Angel Classic as a sat nav receiver, but with a laptop computer running Microsoft Street & Trips (in the USA), rather than pda. I don't know whether you could get an interface to work with a pda.

Road Angel 2 can output NMAE signal but not sure what interface cables you'd need.

Origin were claiming this feature for the B2 but i dont know if it is available or will ever be available best to give them a call.

Just sold my B2 as it was so bloody flaky- got more 'no signal' warnings than anything else went back to origin twice, but just got sick of it in the end.

I've had 4 of the original Origin Bluei's replaced and this last one's display is starting to go.

Not the best quality I have to say!
