Everyone wants to race!
Since owning my Scooby since Wednesday, ive had every man and his dog trying to race me.
Kids on mopeds at traffic lights (lol), Audi TT's, boy racers etc.
I went to Milton Keynes tonight and had some bloke in an Audi (not sure what model, new with big alloys) sitting up my ar*e and then overtaking on a bend with a car coming in the other direction. Bearing in mind it's wet and im still getting used to the scoobs power - i let him have his moment and just sat at 60mph. About 5 minutes later i had an Audi TT 225 wanting to play, i saw him approach the roundabout and he was driving pretty slow but as soon as he saw me he booted it and again, was driving like a pr*ck.
Bloody Audi's LOL.
Im paying an absolute fortune for insurance (im only 21) so i'm not going to give in, drive like an idiot and end up writing my scoob off.
Going from 154bhp (Lexus IS200) to 269bhp is a massive step up, i admit i do like getting to 60mph quick where it's safe to do so but im no way experienced enough to be throwing the scoob around the bends just yet!

Your best bet will be a UK model, i couldn't even get quotes on a WRX import. I think the UK turbo is called the 2000 AWD.
Mines a W reg (2000), but i think it's a MY99.

I only picked up my scoob a couple of weeks ago and have noticed other drivers do react to it, even if I'm only cruising along. Doesn't seem to matter what make/model they're in.
It doesn't bother me though I just do my own thing and let them have their moment of glory...

I have a 993 turbo, every day without fail there is some muppet two feet off the whale tail - egging me to boot it. Very rarely oblige or react - not worth it.
And I usually get the bird about once a week for no apparent reason!
Still,love the car!

CRAIG - I know what ypu mean i went from a 90bhp corsa SRi to a WRX however i never ever get people trying to race me - i can still remember the lad in the Mr2 turbo about a year and a half ago (a week after i got my WRX) trying to have a go at me
only ever get boy racers up my urse when im driving around the town centre at 30mph trying to show off to their mates and chavers at the bus stop that they are fast enough to take on such a car
since then its only been people on the A1 in the slow lane who boot it and want to see how fast you are!

Nobody races me. I realised that my 99 Classic Turbowagon is in a colour that makes people wonder if it has some blue lights hidden somewhere! So I can have fun by driving in my best IAM/Roadcraft style on dual carriageways at 60 and see them slow down and creep past me their speedo dead on 70. Then there's the sheds that back off and hang back and I think no MOT no insurance banned driver etc. If I was plod that's a dead giveaway and Iwould stop them.

Craig if you couldnt get a quote on a wrx I assume your running a turbo 2000 with mods to get yourself 269bhp. Be carefull mate if you have a problem those mods will be easy to recognise and invalidate your insurance.

Dunno why you guys have all this bother. I dont think I have EVER had a local sit on me bum in the last 2 years of ownership. Audi / Mondeo rep mobiles yes but the local nippers no. A few of then wave or nod and im more than happy to wave back .Maybe im just lucky where I live, or maybe I just dont notice it.
