Part ex'd my WRX 03 PPP for Evo 7 FQ300
Hi everyone, i've now had my Evo 7 FQ 300 for 12 days. I part ex'd my Scooby PPP 03. I was extremely happy with the Scooby in every way bar one! I never like the way it went around corners, even with Prodrive springs. It always felt just a little too soft, especially at higher speeds. (bit scary). Anyway, here are my views on the Evo, as an owner of 12 days and having driven 600 miles on various road types.
What I love about the Evo:
1. It has full on, mental acceleration
2. Ride is mentally hard, handling is amazing, steering very quick, lovely small steering wheel.
3. It really does have a rally car feel. The 5 speed box is very smooth and quick.
4. It goes round corners at absurdly high speeds, and feels totally safe.
What I hate about the Evo:
1. First thing in the morning the gears are notchy
2. The clutch can often smell, even when being driven normally
3. Yes is has air con, but no 'auto' switch, which I miss lots.
4. When i'm tired, its not that a nice car to drive, you need to be fully awake and aware at all times!
5. The petrol tank is soooooo small that I fill up VERY often. Its only 48 litres!
6. On motorways at high speeds its INCREDIBLY noisy, like, lets take the train if we're going on a long journey!!!
What I love about the WRX 03 PPP:
1. Almost everything
What I miss about the WRX 03 PPP:
1. The AUTO switch on heating control. (miss it badly)
2. The 10,000 mile service intervals
3. The all round refinement
4. The light around the ignition key
5. The glovebox light
6. Seat height adjustment
7. The heated mirrors (miss badly)
So now you can maybe understand why i'll be back in a Scooby this time next year! Lovely car, the Evo, if you want it hardcore 24/7.

Congrats on a very good report and a nice unbias view I hate the 'Them versus us Threads.
Fairly much as I thought when I tried one. I thought the were mental around corners too but didn't get the feedback through the seat to how close I was to the 'Edge'. Maybe I was a wuss and just going to slow
Enjoy .

12 months down the line & you get back into a Scooby & you will hate it...
Slow, wallowy, feels heavy, cant corner as hard....
Look how many people go from a Scoob to an Evo, and look how few go back (the girls who can't handle a proper car)
I bought a new wooden object today - seems to be working well

I'm not really biased against either, the Evo handled much better and the STI sounded (soooooooo much)better, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't buy an Evo or an STI again.
It's the image....... Renault 182's (and everyone else in a cheap hatch) thinking they can blitz you........and unfortunately for them.........can't !
