Some twit just drove into our 8 day old subaru!
Does anyone know how badly damaged it needs to be to get written off.
She basically drove into the side damaging every panel and the rear wheels are now wonky!
Need it written off otherwise we lose loads of money having a crash repaired car!
So really need any advice there is.
Cheers

I'd say its unlikely to be written off if its nearly new. Doesnt the cost of repair have to be more than 2/3 of the value to be a write off or something? So say its worth 20k then the damage would need to cost more than 12k or so to fix - sounds unlikely, but post up some pics anyway!

Sorry I cant, Im a bit stooopid.
Some one will though.
Dont worry about your car, it will all be OK in the end, thats what insurance is for, and Im sure with that roof damage it will be written off.

i knew a guy who put a roof on a orion, and if you didn't know it had been done, you would've have guessed!
plus a make a good project for someone, take roof off, put proper roll cage in etc, like the pro's do!

Cost of repair has to be over 60% of the cars value for it to be beyond economical repair.
Id argue the point with your insurance co though, that due to the vehicles age, you would like another new one that wont depreciate like a stone due to the massive damage your car has incured.

Roof damage can be a sign that the main frame is distorted. If this is the case it will be written off as Subaru do not supply the main bodyshell. My son found this out when a little old lady (80) hit him virtually head on in her Metro! If you suspect any body twist insist it is written-off - don't compromise.

She literally turned into us as she was trying to go up a drive the dizzy cow. Basically every panel on the drivers side is fecked.
The pillar between the two doors is damaged, dented in. Will this mean they have to write off?
Really cant deal with the thought of having a crash repaired car that has lost a couple of grand through no fault of ours!
So peeved, still cant believe it till we look outside and see her on our drive. They are taking her away tomorrow to County of Chelmsford? Been told that they are the place Subaru have their repairs done. Does anyone know if this is correct as if they do repair the car we want to make sure it is perfectly done.

Yep she admitted liability. Our insurers wanted us to use someone different but we declined and said we would only use Subaru approved. They then told us that this place, County 's of Chelmsford are where Subaru have their cars repaired. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of them and if this is true.

I think it's only fair to let the insurers know that your are not happy about losing money on a new vehicle, so get the car valued after the repair job and ask them for the difference. Even if they take into account the depreciation over the 8 days you should be better off.

Feel really sorry for you, I had mine damaged by a woman who didn't look before pulling out, but not quite as bad as yours though.
Good luck with the outcome.

No one will ever know about the damage anyway, unless you tell them.
I've had paint done in the past and a good paint shop can make paint look like glass, rather than subaru orange peel.

Read your insurance, there's a clause in 'some' of them which says that if your car is less than 1 year old and it gets damaged, I think you get a new car!! Gotta be worth a shot!!

I bought a car that was HPI'd as never in an accident, but when my ABS sensor went **** up they stripped the front bumper off etc, rather obvious behind there that it had been in quite a bad smack!!!
I can host the pics seeing as they aren't up yet!

When I had my rear end shunt (got it back now), I rang the local Subaru Dealer and they said it should have no impact on resale value, providing its a good repair.
Is that right? I don't want to be left out of pocket.
